It always stings, when I see friends spread wild generalizations about vegans. These posts are virtually always full of false dichotomies, strawman arguments, and other glaring fallacies. They minimized the reasons we have for refusing to support animal exploitation while, in essence, mocking the concept of compassion for non-humans. And I know this isn’t what my friends are about, if they take the time to consider it. You know y’all could have a conversation with a vegan or twelve in a heartbeat, right? Like rebloging anti-vegan hate isn’t your only option here.

How can I deal with spiders while being phobic? I think I have a bigger, black one in my room that I can't find anymore and just the thought of going back to sleep while it's still here makes me cry out of fear. There's no way I can come close enough to one to catch it with a glass without panicking and my roommates are either annoyed by my fear, too scared themself to do it for me or not avaiable at the moment.

The best option with any pest is always to deter or prevent them from entering your space in the first place. Look for and seal up any gaps, especially around walls and closets. Make sure there is no waste, no uncleaned corners of the walls or ceilings. Spiders hate peppermint and citrus so it is very easy to make a non-lethal, homemade deterrent, by mixing about 10-15 drops of peppermint essential oil or a citrus essential oil to about 2 cups of water in a spray bottle. There are also commercially available deterrents as well, just make sure they are natural ones rather than chemical deterrents that can cause harm.

Once they are already in your space, there is are still plenty of humane options available even if you don’t want to get close to them. There are quite a lot of bug grabbers available online, which are essentially a closed space on the end of a long pole, meaning you don’t have to get very close to them at all. There are even bug vacuums that work similarly, without killing. Take a look into these options online and see what would work best for you given your phobia. These options won’t require you to get any closer than you would to actually kill them, so they will be the best option for all concerned really.

YOU NEED TO ASPIRATE BEFORE INJECTING.

I’ve known many individuals who were never told by medical professionals to aspirate, which is unacceptable on behalf of endocrinology. This is an extremely important step because if you accidentally inject into a vein, you can literally die.

“I’ve never aspirated and I’ve been fine” until you’re not.  “My doctor never told me to aspirate” because trans healthcare has yet to be standardized and is a work in progress. “The area I inject in has little to no blood vessels” but there are so many people who don’t know which areas are safest and it’s better to be safe than sorry.

How To Aspirate: Stick yourself with the needle and then draw back on the syringe. If your syringe fills with blood, you need to reposition your needle. If it doesn’t fill with blood, you’re safe to inject there.

Signs that you’ve injected into a vein: — Stroke — Shortness of breath — Coughing — Chest and/or abdominal pain — Low Oxygen — Blood clots — Slurred speech — Headache — Swelling — Tenderness

Literally just aspirate because it takes 2 seconds and can save your life.
