POLL RESULT TIME!

okay, first of all thank you all for participating in the poll i posted previously, your feedback means a lot. secondly, as for the results, it looks like the majority of you all (52% to be exact) want more lapidot and SU character interactions/dialogs, so ask and ye shall receive! obviously not to alienate the other participants, as the rest of the people who voted wanted either more SU appreciation posts or both, so while i'll be focusing on dialogs primarily, i'll still occasionally put up an appreciation/look back post or two, to keep things fresh.

but yeah, congrats to people who wanted more interactions, y'all won, so i'll be posting more as i come up with them!

Just hit me today that before I came back to this blog, I hadn't been active on it since June of last year, which kinda sucks, so I'm gonna try and be a smidge more active here, and try to keep it consistent, haha.

people be talking about how they want a relationship like lapis and peridot or (other ship name here) and while i’d love that, i really would, meh, right now i need me a relationship that’s just got the dynamic of two peridots. pure chaos and gremlin energy 24/7 with nobody to keep me or her in check. the kind of dynamic where we get kicked out of an arcade for learning to cheat at every machine and working together to get a prize we want. sometimes that kind of chaos is what the heart needs.

I've been thinking a lot about Jesse Zuke's old Peridot drawings lately, they're so cute, and honestly such a mood. Highly recommend checking out some of their storyboards and drawings! They've got a lovely artstyle!

What do you guys think about the early animation nowadays? Do you hate how off-model things get sometimes, do you like how overly expressive some of the faces can be?

Personally, I think it’s both good and pretty bad. I enjoy how cartoony things can get sometimes, but I also really like the consistency in later seasons + future, the off-model stuff in season 1 in particular really bothered me. For some reason Pearl really had it rough, as seen above. I really liked some of the inconsistencies in season 2 and 3 though, some of the ways Peridot was drawn were incredible, like when she was INCREDIBLY tiny one episode and normal-sized with gigantic hair the next.

Plus I feel like some of the inconsistencies are kind of the ‘signature’ of some of the storyboard artists that worked on the episodes, like the big poofy hair in some of the zuke boarded Peridot and Lapis episodes, just as an example. Interested in hearing what you all think though!
