At long last, I found a copy of “Dragon Feathers” by Andrej Dugin & Olga Dugina that wasn’t over $30. Weirdly hard to find, this children’s book is based on an Austrian fairytale about a poor woodcutter’s son who must pluck three golden feathers from the wing of a monstrous dragon in order to win the hand of the innkeeper’s daughter.
Andrej and Olga create STUNNING oil paintings for this book that are fantastic and whimsical. Each page has so much little detail and fabulous creatures.

This is a perfect time to read the brilliant and unforgettable graphic novel(s) Persepolis by Marjane Satrapi, about growing up in Iran during and after the Iranian Revolution, and the rise of the oppressive theocracy that persists to this day.
Both graphic novels are available free online (Persepolis vol. 1, Persepolis vol. 2)
It also was adapted to a wonderful film (co-directed and co-written by the author) which is available to watch for free on Sundance Now (sign up for the free trial)

Just a quick little sketch for a book that makes me cry. Happy Canadian Thanksgiving.

ok so, I approached my local library with a proposal to donate a mural as a way to A: build portfolio/gain practical experience and B: give back to a beloved public institution. The director was very enthusiastic about it and i've been working on it since the beginning of March. Come with me as I endeavor to paint what is in all honesty an excessive amount of birds
I wanted the birds to look like they were actually in the space so first thing after doing the draft was to do a lighting study
after that I covered the walls in letters in lieu of a projector/vr headset bc i have neither of those :) Then i take a picture of the section of wall and superimpose the lineart over top of it so I can pencil in the lines
et voila
and that was a whole week on it's own so next comes the paintin' >:)
What if Paddington was actually a Peruvian spectacled bear? :D
