Last night's recipe was a success! #paleo jambalaya! @liongrrrl tested and approved. I adapted a recipe I found on the #paleomg website. I used shrimp and chicken and added ocra and asparagus. It's suuuper yumz! #cleaneating #instacook #balancedbasics #amyskitchenadventures
When you're an adult you can spend your day off in your pjs, eating ice cream and soup and fries dipped in mayo. And when it's homemade and #cleaneating you don't have to feel guilty about it. About the eating anyway. #balancedbasics #kitchenadventures #cookingforone

I found this site of my guideline to start;;
thought i’d post this in case anyone is interested in starting as well !
Step 1
Shop around the exterior of the supermarket. This is where you will find fresh produce, dairy, meats and cheeses. Many unhealthy packaged, processed foods are in the interior aisles. If you steer clear of them, you will be less likely to purchase them.
Step 2
Choose fresh foods as often as possible. This includes fruits, vegetables and meats. Make these foods the focus of your meals. Take advantage of local sources such as farmer’s markets.
Step 3
Purchase whole-grain breads from local bakeries that make them fresh daily. The shelf life is shorter, but these breads are less processed.
Step 4
Reduce your consumption of canned foods, frozen meals and fast food. All can contain excess sodium and processed components.
Step 5
Cook more of your own food. Plan your meals for the week and prepare foods ahead of time that can be reheated later. Use a slow-cooker to cook meals all day while you work and enjoy them for dinner when you arrive home.
Step 6
Choose salad bars and delis when you need convenient take-out. Many supermarkets offer delicious salad bars with lots of choices and delis with foods such as sushi, salads and sandwiches made fresh daily.
Step 7
Make your own snacks with fresh foods and skip boxed snack mixes and sweets. Enjoy carrot sticks and hummus, Greek yogurt and fruit or dried fruit and nuts.
Step 8
Bake your own homemade desserts and reduce packaged baked goods. Making your own cookies and cakes allows you to know what ingredients are included and eliminate any unnecessary preservatives.
I think I'll call this Shelf Life Stew ;-) I needed to get that ground beef cooked up and use those leftover roast veggies. The tomato sauce and the broth were about on their way out too. Added some quinoa for fiber and I'll add some greens tomorrow. We'll see!! #mysterymeals #crockpot #cleaneating
A helpful infographic from #heandsheeatclean. I usually cook for 1, so this is a nice tool for when my brain is tired and I don't want to do the math!
“Uh. I just caramelized an apple in coconut oil, fresh squeezed orange juice with cinnamon and ginger. Then I topped it with a heaping scoop of coconut…”
I thought I'd share a few of my favorite #cleaneating hot sauces. The first is a delicious creation by my good friends over at #pepperbarnproducts, who are from right here in #pdx. Habaneros, red jalapeños, apple cider vinegar, honey, and sea salt are all that make this super spicy sauce a clean eats winner. They also make a strawberry habanero that is AMAZING. Next is #mariesharps from #belize. Red habanero peppers, carrots, onions, lime juice, vinegar, garlic and salt. Super simple, super yummy, super #whole30 friendly. And let's not forget #franksredhot. Aged cayenne peppers, vinegar, water, salt and garlic powder. The least amount of heat of the group, but flavor packed all the same. Also #whole30 friendly. I will always have a special place in my heart for Tapatio, but unfortunately it does have preservatives. There you have it! Spice things up without compromising flavor or your healthy goals! #hotsauce #cleaneats #fitblr #bringtheheat #pdxlocal #pdxfit #pdxeats
Frozen nanners, almond butter, a lil' coconut milk (full fat and canned, never boxed) and some cinnamon. Jam it in the blending apparatus of your choice and boom goes the dynamite. #cleaneating ice cream.
Besides marinating this ahi steak in orange juice and #braggs since this afternoon, this took me MAYBE 15 minutes to get in a bowl and get in my face. I riced some cauliflower in my #ninja and sautéed it with curry powder, zoodled some zucchini on my mandolin and sautéed that up with some fresh basil, and pan fried the ahi with the marinade. Put it all together and top it with guac and whadaya have??? Nutritious, delicious and easy squeezy!!
