No because for most of the show, it’s Beatrice pouring knowledge, and training, and instruction into Ava, and Ava absorbs it all like the eager little sponge she is, but then there are also times when Ava says something so heartfelt and honest to Beatrice and for a moment, Beatrice stills, and it’s like suddenly she’s an empty notebook for Ava to scribble things into and Beatrice looks at her like she holds all the secrets of the universe. And I KNOW it’s because “what you are is beautiful” and “you don’t have to be so perfect all the time” are things that little Beatrice probably desperately wanted to hear from her parents, but I also know that during her time at boarding school and her years in the OCS, Beatrice probably did get a lot of compliments and validation, but maybe she shrugged them off or didn’t think about them, but from Ava, she hears them. From Ava, she wants to hear them, and she does. It’s like for a moment she opens that little chamber in her heart and lets Ava pour her words into it, and it probably hurts a little because opening up that chamber makes her aware of how empty it is, and it sizzles a little and aches, but when she closes that chamber again, after she lets Ava pour these little things into, it’s also a little less empty.
