Saw The Bride! today. It's a Christian Bale big screen release after 4 years. So I had no intention to write any review of the film because you know I am going to love itđ
But after watching The Bride! One thought is not getting out of my mind. For past few days I have been reading reviews of the film by critics and all of them are calling it a 'big swing' by director Maggie Gyllenhaal, some called it a 'hit', many called it a 'miss'. I went a little skeptical because simply 'Whats the need for this 10000th Frankenstein adaptation?'. Oh God, If there's a Frankenstein movie needed in 2026 then surely it has to be 'The Bride' . After watching 'The Bride!' I am fully convinced misogyny is on full swing in film twitter/critics circle dominated by the so called progressive western society. I understand this movie is not for everyone (No movie ever was) and critisicm is normal. However, there is an undeniable undercurrent of hate from a major part of critics or film media. Even calling it 'worst film of the year' and advertising massive walk out during screenings and questioning the studio's decision to fund it. And all I get, the hate is due to the female director's 'on the face feminism' and not for the crafts on display.
You may or may not love The Bride! but you can't be bored for sure. If some individuals felt discomfort on watching violence and injustice on women then that's their problem not Maggie Gyllenhaalâs. Because she did say what she wanted to say with amazing craftsmanship on display. Performances, music, cinematography, make- up production design all are top notch. Editing is bit loose I think. Its entertaining as hell. So go see The Bride! and decide it for yourself. Don't pay attention to some loosers' opinion on social media. And if you are fan of Christian Bale you will get to see him like never before.

Happiest Birthday to Christian Bale - the definition of commitment, dedication and versatility in the world of cinema. Not only I hugely admire and enjoy the way he lives every character on screen, I also respect him as a person from bottom of my heart. The more you know him the more you love him.

Omkara Singh Oberoi in love is one Kara I never though Iâd see, and now that I am witnessing it, I am in pure denial. My fantasies are coming true, kismat wale get to witness this beautiful transition Kara has gone through, even if makers have bypassed a lot of it đ
Karaâs Deewaniâs are getting to see yet another shade of Multi-ShadesKara. Every angle of him is different - Omkara Singh Oberoi, Omkara, Om, Omkaraji, Omkie Shomkie, O, Dilpreet, they are all different faces of Kara, but they all possess one thing. Junoon. Passion. Whether that be for his family, art, poems, family relations, marriage, love-life, his brothers, he does everything with immense passion. Love, hatred, care, jealousy. All make up different shades of Kara â
The intensity that he hated Ri with, the intensity he fought with his feelings with, the intensity in which he accused her wrongly, the intensity in how he won her back, the intensity he confessed his love to his love, the intensity in which he wants to love her, feel her, drown himself in her, the intensity in which he loves his Ri, no one can do better than Kara đˇ

Hi TT. I was thinking today who is my favourite 4 lions hero and who is the best one I wanted to know who is your favourite. Arnav, Asad or Shivaay? (Minus/excluding the stupid shaadi plots)
Hi anon!Â
Do I *have* to choose from these three? Coz honest to god, my answer is Option D: Omkara Singh Oberoi. Heâs honestly my favourite 4 Lions Man.Â
*what a man, what a man, what a man, what a mighty good man!â plays* đđđ
Among your given options, Iâm not at all a fan of Asad (I mean sure, I liked him out of Stockholm Syndrome while watching the show, but looking back⌠ugh.) So itâs a fight to death between Arnav and Shivaay, and I canât pick! Theyâre both my beautiful-yet-problematic boys who I love despite so not wanting to. On one hand, Arnavâs amazing snark might be my favourite thing ever in tellywood, but I also really love Shivaayâs softer side and who he is under the whole SSO persona. I canât pick! YOU CANâT MAKE ME! đŠđŠđŠÂ *clutches to both boys with all my strength*Â
Also, honorable mention to Aahil Raza Ibrahim, him of the soulful eyes, Disney prince face, and intense angst. The Qubool Hai man entered in competition should be him, not Asad. đđđ
Hi!! I hope youâre well. Just wanted to ask you this after seeing your post on Omkara... how does he compare to Arnav? And why is he your favourite, in relation to Arnav and also in general?
Hey anon!
Iâve done a post on why I love Omkara so much already here.
How he compares to Arnav⌠Well, theyâre very very similar, but itâs just that I personally feel Om is a more complex character and thus heâs dearer to me.
Arnav lost his parents right after the revelation of his fatherâs infidelity, and though thatâs a deep wound, itâs relatively âcleanerâ than the one Om has. Omâs father is alive, which is worse in this case; he witnesses the infidelity and the effect that has on his mother every single day for years. He is there when his sister commits an innocent but fatal mistake and sees the effect it has on her psyche, and takes the blame on to himself, which then ravages him mentally, leading him to drugs. He witnesses his mother try to commit suicide in front of him, survive that attempt, and then his father try to murder her. His father tries to murder him. A maternal figure he holds in high regard tries to murder him. Heâs been repeatedly deceived by women to the point that he trusts none of them (other than Anika. Sheâs the one unwavering constant in whom his belief never breaks, even when she doesnât fully deserve it. Because he trusts her good intentions to that degree.) His mental issues have layer upon layer upon layer and watching him navigate life around them has been fascinating/heartbreaking (coz gosh, when will this poor boy just catch a break?????)
Arnav is stronger. He has his moments of frailty but always rallies relatively quick and is back in action. But itâs Omkaraâs weaknesses that make him more interesting to me. He succumbs to drugs (repeatedly), he attempts suicide (both times he says he didnât mean to but subconsciously⌠I think he did.) Heâs not a âheroâ the way Arnav or Shivaay are (until DBO forcibly tries to make him one, against his will, and fails miserably.) Heâs broken and tired and at the point of giving up many times. He needs to be rescued, and is, not just by romantic love (Riddhima/Gauri), but also by the steadfast and unwavering love of his brothers (particularly Shivaay.) His mistakes come from self-destructive patterns derived from trauma than ego or wanting to put on a front and seeming formidable and fierce to the external world. His struggles and angst are purely internal and due to having to live with himself and his broken brain and the circumstances that make him so (even as the world/his family thinks heâs amazing and wonderful and has no reason to suffer from self-loathing.) As anyone who suffers from a similar-ish degree of mental illness can attest to, Big Mood.
His marriage to Gauri comes because despite how utterly fucked up he is mentally at that point of time, at the core he is a compassionate man, who cannot stand aside and watch a woman being harmed. (Even one that he loathes.) He has absolutely nothing to gain from the wedding, unlike Arnav/Shivaay, who have ulterior motives. In fact, it only complicates his life further. The gesture is completely selfless on his part and for the express purpose of saving Gauriâs life and nothing more.
Arnav is a self-made man, but because heâs driven to regain everything that he lost after his parentsâ death and their subsequent disrepute as a family. Omkara is a self-made millionaire purely because of his ethics. He never lost his riches; if he chose, he wouldnât have to work a day in his life (like Rudra). But he doesnât want any part of the empire than he knows has been watered by the blood of countless innocents, and so he makes his own fortune derived only from his own creativity/labour, than hiring others to make his wealth FOR him; because thatâs the only way he can ensure that his money isnât tainted by suffering.
I have a thing for creative men who are good with words. Being good with words and being able to articulate beautifully denotes a deeper understanding of the human condition. Itâs no coincidence that all his ability to create art and poetry goes away when heâs at his worst, uncompassionate behavior. He loses his understanding of how complicated people are and what drives them to act in certain manners and becomes emotionally numb; thus the art also goes away. It only comes back once he slowly starts healing and feeling again.
His relationship with his siblings. Arnavâs relationship with Anjali and Akash is quite⌠I wouldnât say âone-sidedâ, but even though heâs in the middle just like Om, he serves as the eldest; their protector, the one in charge. Omâs relationship with his siblings is quite different. Heâs mostly protected by Shivaay from a lot of things, but in turn he too is protector to Rudra/Prinku, and in some cases, Shivaay too.
Shivaay and Omkaraâs relationship is the true love story for me in this show. They love each other intensely, but not in a creepy, codependent way (like Arnav/Anjali.) Theyâre yin and yang; diametrically different but complementing and completing each other; integral parts of each other, without whom the other one goes tragically astray. They have entirely different world-views and clash often, but are accepting of each otherâs POV and donât attempt to change/convert them. They call each other out when one of them is on their bullshit but with love and compassion and wanting the best for them, than just wanting to âwinâ a moral argument. (Hence their unwavering and sometimes hidden support for each othersâ wives, even over the other oneâs disapproval/unwillingness.) They raise their younger siblings together, and are a solid unit, both against the outer world, and their inner world - their own parents who repeatedly try to tear them apart. JustâŚ. Their relationship, man. Itâs my absolute fav and has me all up in my feels on the reg. Iâve never seen a platonic/fraternal relationship this intense and demonstrative (the hugs and kisses! so free and pure!) ever, and ugh, it has my whole damn heart.
Thereâs lots more reasons, Iâm sure, but my brain isnât properly cooperating rn.

From calling him âthe ugly oneâ/âbaal ki dukaanâ (in my defense, that initial wig was absolutely terrible) whenever i saw him in pre-show promos, to falling in love with his character the goddamn second I started watching; Om is the one Iâm going to really miss THE MOST. FUCK. I REALLY REALLY LOVE THIS HOT MESS OF A CHARACTER. He was everything: sane, insane, sorted, flawed, smart, silly, angry, funny, broken, strong, right, wrong, the perfect complement to nearly every single one of the main 6 (Iâm including Saumya too.) Heâs my absolute fav tellywood man, and I suspect he will be for a very very VERY long time.
My fav tellywood man too
