Hello! I'm the Needle Naturalist, and this is my Canis lupus (timber wolf) embroidery piece.
The timber wolf, also called the gray wolf, is a carnivorous mammal in the Canidae family. Typically gray and brown in color (though they can also vary from solid white to brown or black), they live in packs ranging from 2 to 15 or more individuals. Their size can range from 4 to 7 feet, snout to tail tip, and wolves living in the northern parts of their range tend to be on the larger size verses their southern counterparts.
Native to areas in Canada, northern USA, Europe, and Asia, these wolves are well adapted to a variety of habitats from grasslands and deserts to tundra and forests. While hunting and habitat loss have caused their wild populations to decline, there are strong conservation efforts being implemented to help them rebound!
This particular piece is no longer available, but more fascinating creatures are on the way!
