rest in peace george michael you would’ve done numbers on here
that ending scene in the park with Buffy and the April!bot talking in “I was made to love you” basically made the whole episode worth it for me. (I just wish I didn’t have to watch the rest of it to get to this point.)
it’s a beautiful moment, two young women drenched in the dying sunlight, discussing the pain of heartbreak in the innocent setting of a children’s playground. showing the dark side of love…it’s deterioration and loss.
Buffy’s empathy really shines through and April’s lines as well as the delivery just shatter my heart. there’s a wonderful examination of the expectation of perfection for a partner, the importance of existing separately from that partner, escape and abandonment, denial and acceptance, questioning your choices after a breakup, as well as the emotional investments and depth of feeling imbalances that can happen in relationships, through the guise of an “ideal robot” girlfriend.
it walks the line of giving nuance to April while unquestionably framing Warren as the villain for bringing her to life, only to throw her away once he got bored of her being exactly what he made her to be: pleasant, subservient, and endlessly devoted.

Sometimes art can be perfect while being imperfect and thats what pisses me off that people dont understand. Its easy to nitpick. What's not easy is to be able to recognize what's a worthwhile tradeoff, what could realistically have been done differently, what the limiting conditions of production would be.
honestly i hate it when ppl are like 😗 ok well admittedly wheel of time was flawed.. like im not willing to admit that personally. its perfect as far as im concerned. certainly far more perfect than a tv series produced under those circumstances had any right to be. it might not be technically literally perfect but it could not realistically have been executed better except in bizarro world where tv shows somehow get produced like the lord of the rings trilogy with multiple years worth of pre production and a guarantee of an ending. which as far as im concerned makes it as close to perfect as anyone was ever going to get.
