The Streets of East Salinas Are Talking!

After two police shootings in 11 days, many East Salinas residents are angry. Some took to the streets wile others, as the photos above demonstrate, have been busy hitting up walls, storefronts, and traffic light posts with messages critical of the police.

According to local residents, “187 on SPD” was spray painted on the wall of the bakery next to where Carlos Mejia was killed by police on Tuesday, but quickly painted over.

Community members have organized a march for Sunday, May 25, at 10AM at Closter Park (401 Towt St., Salinas, California 93905) in response to recent police killings. Follow the link for more information.
