TicTacToe project
Hi,
I'm currently working on implementing and deploying a facebook application.
Its a simple TicTacToe game. However I'm trying to implement it as a multiplayer game and publish it in facebook. Potentially having lots of players playing it online.
Important bits for me on this projects are :
- Event sourcing
- Message Queuing
- Multiplayer game
- Facebook app
- NodeJS and Socket.io
- Deployment scripts to AWS
So I'm going to learn a lot and hopefully ship a real application soon.

Manchester Geek Night Update: Integration testing between multiple test suites with Ketan Soni
Wednesday, April 17, 2013
6:45 PM
ThoughtWorks Manchester
18th Floor City Tower Piccadilly Plaza, Manchester (edit map)
http://www.meetup.com/manchester-geek-nights/events/113264202/
About the talk:
Typically in organizations, there are multiple projects / products. Many organisations like to have a common Test Automation solution across these products in an effort to standardize the framework. However, this is not a good idea! Each product should be tested using thetools and technologies that are “right” for it. Yet - these different products talk with each other and you need to test the integration between them in an automated way.
“TaaS - Test-as-a-Service” is an open-source product that allows you do achieve the “correct” way of doing integration testing across a variety of products via Test Automation. Ketan will talk about: * Why it is not a good idea to have a common test automation framework * A way to automate the integration testing between different products, which use different tools and technologies as development and testing stack.
About the speaker:
Ketan is a QA in Thoughtworks. He has been with Thoughtworks for about 4 years. He is based on Pune office in India however he has been with us in Manchester office for about 4 Months. He has lots of interest in technology specifically testing.

Next Manchester Geek Nights : Behavior Driven Testing for Multichannel Enterprise Applications with Sudeep Somani
I'm hosting the next Manchester Geek Nights with following details. It will be also broadcasted on LiveStream please follow the channel if you are going to stream it live.
Behavior Driven Testing for Multichannel Enterprise Applications with Sudeep Somani
These days all the enterprises are trying to reach out to end consumers through multiple channels so that they can reach out masses. By multiple channels we mean mobile, tablets, web etc. Though irrespective of the channel used by the consumer, the user behavior remains the same in each case. For example a user can buy grocery from a retailer website, S/he can do the same by mobile web, iphone or an android app of the retailer through his phone, but in all cases user behavior remains the same i.e. S/he buys grocery.
In this talk we will discuss about how behavior driven tools comes handy when we test such multichannel enterprise applications. How they can be used to define user behaviors at a single place and can be reused across multiple channels. We will also give a live demo to support our talk. In the live demo we will showcase how we can run same user behavior (defined in cucumber) across multiple channels (iphone, andriod, web apps).
About the speaker:
Sudeep Somani is a Lead Quality Consultant at ThoughtWorks Europe.
Since joining ThoughWorks in 2008 Sudeep has worked on different domains like investment banking, retail, social networking for variety of customers. During his experience he has played different roles like QA, BA, IM, Trainer, Agile consultant.
Sudeep is very passionate about Test Automation and Behaviour driven development (BDD). He is practicing BDD for quite some time now and feels it has lot to offer and industry has just started on it.
Sudeep also carries lot of functional test automation experience and worked on large variety of proprietary and open source tools. He believes quality and coverage of functional test can suggest how robust and clean the software code is. He feels behavior of software should be defined by live and running functional test rather than documented test cases.
Sudeep loves adventure sports and already done many of them and still has lot of items in his to do list.
