So Sorry, Old Friend
She perched on his bed, a soft wite smudge that stood out against the dark, theatre inspired fabrics and posters of Kurtâs room. She had managed to get the crazy sparks under control, at least most of the time. Could pass for human on most days, with the right accessories, claiming that her hair had prematurely greyed. She had to make sure to not wear a lot of black, and dark-washed jeans were a rarity in her wardrobe. They washed her out. Her one rebellious concession was the black leather jacket that fit her like a second skin, that Thema had made her buy because she had claimed that if she didnât bring it home, she was just going to kiss her senseless, and bring both Star and the jacket home, whether she approved or not.
To busy her hands and distract herself from sad memories, Star shrugged out of her jacket, and poured herself and Kurt glasses of the nice wine sheâd brought from California.Â
âI missed you,â she murmured after a second, voice nearly swallowed by the room. She cleared her throat and tried again. âI really did. I missed you so much⌠Iâm sorry for the radio silence, too, I just, I couldnât for a while.â She rolled the stem of her glass between long, delicate fingers.
âSo, uh, you know I was living with Ryan and Thema for a while, right?â she asked, and took a long sip of her wine. âThatâs not⌠I⌠Not happening any more. None of it. Not getting married, not living happily ever after, homeâs been completely destroyed.â A single spark traveled down her face like a tear.
Kurt had missed her as well, she was pretty much like a sister to him. The academy had gone quiet when the three had left the few years prior but Star's constant letters had given him hope that they were fine and safe until the day had come that they ended altogether. He had worried about his friend, team mate and sister, in a sense. He would attempt to look for her when given the time but with Xavier having disappeared and the rest of the school leaving and returning as they pleased, it left Kurt with a great deal of stress to stay and be one of the only constants in their beloved school and home.
He listened to her words and when she spoke of the silence he was about to say that it is alright, that she is safe and sound and that his prayers had been finally answered. That she was doing alright and was healthy. That Ryan and Thema--
Oh, he just figured three or so possibilities of what may have happened between the three or onto the three and her tears made two of them a heavy possibility. He put down his wine glass and bamfed over to give her a hug. Gently pushing her to rest slightly on his shoulder as he patted her back with his other hand. "Es tut mir leid. I'm sorry. Es tut mir leid."
The phrases repeated, both meaning the same thing. He just didn't have the heart to try and make it right with anything else right now. It was obviously rather painful for her to speak of it and he was sure it may have been some of the uneasiness she felt about the mutant/human tensions in one of the last towns they had visited. In his mind, he was praying for the two lost souls. He'd always prayed for the trio but now, he knew and was aware of may have happened and hopes that they are able to rest peacefully and enter the gates of heaven as they were wonderful children.
