QUESTIONNAIRE
HOW DOES YOUR CHARACTER FEEL ABOUT EMPEROR DOOM? heâs always been a little⌠ahem. not so great, at all. and this situation has served to be the wildest scheme yet. people may have been saved, but a man like doom getting what he wants? which just so happens to be total world domination, literally. hope is far from the horizon but kurt knows better than to believe this it. surely this cannot be their lot in life, subjugation and suffering, until the end of time. goodness must prevail.Â
HOW DOES YOUR CHARACTER FEEL ABOUT THE BATTLES? ARE THEY TRYING TO AVOID THEM? OR ARE THEY EAGER TO JUMP IN? he is 100% trying to avoid them, and he uses his circus to achieve that. he is more than happy to perform for the audience without having to hurt himself or others in the process... and for anyone (of any talent) interested in the same, he takes them on as staff. it seems to be working, but he knows better than to trust that itâll be forever. or that he wonât get into some kind of trouble eventually.
WHY HAS YOUR CHARACTER ACCEPTED THEIR JOB POSITION? WILL THEY USE IT TO GET CLOSER TO DOOM? OR WILL THEY USE IT EXPLOIT HIM? OR DO THEY SIMPLY LIKE THEIR JOB? he isnât one for unnecessary violenceâ taking this seemed like the better option. he is as impressive an acrobat as he was a hero, and a charmer to boot, and when the opportunity arises.. a pretty good leader. heâs put a lot of thought and love into this job, and uses it to its full advantage to protect as many people as he can.Â
đ â âIt's different.. but so much is still the same.â Opening the circus, amassing a small albeit close-knit community of all sorts of freaks & lost souls.. It was a battle Kurt was not unfamiliar with, but it was unlike what he had back home. People, they were the same, but the world they lived in... âWeâve been saved,â he quoted. Eyes drifted far from the company of his adoptive sister. âFrom what, for what? Questions we dare not ask.âÂ
âGonna be honest, Kurt, I have no fucking idea what youâre saying now.â It wasnât as if heâd ever been good at understanding what the mutant was saying, even when he gave it his best efforts. Peering at the man, hand resting on the bar, he does think to admit âItâs nice to see you⌠even if youâre not my Nightcrawler.â Familiar without being unbearably painful.
đ â âIs your Kurt not Deutsch where you are from? Mein Gott, please tell me they are not French.â He was partially poking fun, and partially.. jealous? Curious? It was a difficult feeling to pinpoint. âLikewise, my friend. You look good.â He couldnât say the same for Loganâs perspective, but the familiarity was certainly uncanny in level. A hand extends toward the man. âHow about we start again. A clean slate. It seems only fair, ja?â To them, and their loved ones.
đ â âi have had as many good days as the bad...â was the best he could offer. âbut i make for an always-great distraction. i negotiate, and you go for the backup plan. which is whatever we decide it is, right now. any thoughts?â that was step five, he figured. kurt was going to lose count eventually. âsettling is, unfortunately, the name of this game. if i can convince him of that... just maybe.â it wasnât that he lacked confidence in said plan, but he was looking at this through a practical lens. âbecause, doom will get what he wants regardless. whatever that is, itâs not this â we wouldnât be here. so, if we donât all win, we all lose.âÂ
The whole interaction feels comfortable, and it feels agonizing all at once. Too close to the Kurt he knew, and he was all too willing to lean into it. âJa.â He mockingly mumbled, bringing his bottle up to his lips. The mutant knew his alcohol, and he was fully aware just how much the drink the other mutant had picked was, not that he had much else to send his money on. Rolling his eyes, he managed to mutter âDonât mention it â really.âÂ
đ â âWas war das?â the elf baited, leaning over the bar to peer his yellow eyes at the man in question. âDid not catch that.â But Kurt, he knows he cannot hide the exhaustion in his voice. Cannot pretend he has not aged in the face. This apocalypse, albeit survived, was the worst yet.. and this was one prime example as to why. His heart, heavy. So he smiled, turned to the bartender as they poured his order, and took his first swig.Â
@bamfelf - Aka Kurt Wagner aka Teleporting Blue Furry Not Furry
đŚ ââYâknow I thought I had a handle on all the freaky stuff going onââ The but now was implied. Sam only stealing a glance or two at the blue furry man sitting at the table next to him. âBut I guess this new chapter has some rad parts too.â
đ â âWas?â he questioned in German. âNever seen a fuzzy blue man before?â Clearly, that was Kurt giving the other a hard time. Not even trying to hide the jest in his tone, or the smile that crept across his kind but unique features. âAh!â He suddenly added, nodding a very thoughtful nod. âIt is the tail, isn't? Itâs always the tail.â He flashed a grin and offered a three-fingered hand. âKurt Wagner.âÂ
đ â âa little unnerving, no?â he had dealt with big bugs before. gott, he had dealt with big everything and anything at this point. that didnât make this particular infestation any easier. his eyes follow the beetle that crossed cassieâs path. it was certainly a far cry better than what it had been moments earlier, what with the swarming and the buzzing. âare they.. distressed at all?â one could assume they had been, at least a little, giving the energy they exuded earlier. but the question wasnât on task, or particularly important, and kurt snapped his focus back up to the young bug whisperer and her talk of a plan. âja, step four. hm. asking nicely wonât do the trick?â he asked, though the look he wore gave way to his doubt. a small smile, exasperated tilting back of his head. âwell. we could discover his plan, work our way up from that. maybe we can all get what we want.âÂ
âthatâs incredibly kind of you to offer, kurt.â reed smiled, grateful of the offer but unsure he could accept such a gift. âi wouldnât know where to begin to ask for such a gift though, but if your friend, if xey wish to make something, i and susan would gratefully accept.â he was taught at an early age not to turn down gifts, it was rude - and in truth something nice for sue would be good, given how the entirety of this place was⌠madness at this point.
đ â he seemed pleased by reedâs answer, as if that were the better option. a surprise for the both of them, the elf thought. gears already turning in that fuzzy blue head. âwunderbar. we will get on it right away,â he teased the humble scientist, then offered him a not so subtle wink.Â
âIt definitely suits you,â Steve agrees with a smile. There hasnât been much of that down in the mines or even before the universes collided and made this Battleworld mess. In the grim of the tunnels, itâs nice to have found a friend. He knows plenty of the miners are scared, doing as their emperor wanted trying to stay out of his radar. But Steve Rogers had never been that man. He was slowly finding others like him who wanted to do the right thing. Like MJ and he had a guy feeling about Kurt as well. âI can concur with that, my universe, we didnât have mutants either.â Strange how different and yet the same many things are. HIs thoughts think of Peggy Carter in that moment - the two different woman shared the same courage but their lives had taken very different route. âNot personally, no,â He admits honestly, his new acquaintance wouldnât appreciate otherwise. âBut Iâm trying to do the right thing and help where I can. I know thatâs the unpopular opinion right now. Someone has to do it though.âÂ
đ â Prehensile tail swished and the mutant barked a laugh, amused. A very kind and patient man indeed, dealing with Kurtâs far more flamboyant nature with what could only be assumed as experience. âDanke!â Heâs leaning somewhat against the desk, feeling a little unfolded and out of place from standing upright for too long. Especially when heâs listening. The formerly lit up face shows concern and thought, and heâs nodding. âYouâre right. Someone has to.â He paused, curious how much he should reveal. âI was part of a team once. A mutant team. We used our powers for the good of all people. Some called us superheroes.. others, not so much.â Thereâs a sadness in the way the corner of his mouth curled, crookedly, as he reminisced all the good and bad that came with that life.Â
It wasnât hard to imagine the blue figure high in the sky as he flipped and twisted through a trapeze act. âCan I ask though, have you always been, well, blue?â Heâs seen a lot of extraordinary things for a skinny kid from Brooklyn. Was friends with the God of Thunder and a HulkâŚSteve wasnât trying to be insensitive, honestly it was plain curiosity. âShe seems like a good kid. Helped me out of a situation that could have gotten ugly. So I appreciate what she did.â And eternally he was thankful for it, he hated dragging her into more trouble, but MJ hadnât walked away. âSomehow I can imagine her doing that and I donât know her that well.â He laughed at the response they were meant to give, For Latverion, For the Emperor. Steve was pretty quick to decide how he felt about someone, the suggestion in his new acquaintances voice only furthered the idea he could trust the other. âIâm sure you know about the disappearances. Family members pulled away in the middle of the night by doom bots, without a trace.â
đ â He liked that question, and made a show of reacting in a way that showed it â flashing his pearly fangs. âAlways blue,â he confirmed. âHandsome, no?â Human society and his innate desire to not want to cause discomfort to the less than tolerant... Kurt was proud of his looks. In mutant standards, dare one say he was even vain. But just enough, not to tempt sin. Obviously. âGood, yes, and smart! Her universe, she says they did not have mutants.â He assumes that meant they were underground; uncommon knowledge. âIt took her no time to acclimate.â He laughed at the knife comment. He had originally chalked it up to young Harry giving the analyst a hard time, but Steve was right. She seemed the type, somehow. âJa, I do.â The elf paused. âHave you lost someone?â He didnât feel comfortable carrying on the conversation without knowing exactly what kind of stake the other had in it. For sensitivity reasons, of course.Â
âď¸â There it was, the ripple that could so easily become the tear that would rip the tranquility they had built down. But the conversation moved along and Jean wouldnât snag herself on a branch that wasnât there yet. âItâs beautifulââ It was true, Jean knew the weight of building something close to peace with their own hands. âI should have known the only one brave enough to start a circus on a battle world would be you.â
đ â He smiled. A genuine, almost relaxed expression, feeling comfortable in front of his friend. It didnât matter which version. âI should have known you would call it brave. I cannot help the feeling some think Iâm being reckless...â The elf looked around. He knew he did not have to address his concerns. Mutopia, Krakoa, even the school â all gifts from Dr. Doom. All not what they once were. For the people who could not feel safe in those confines, Kurt would be there.
reed wasnât entirely sure what kurt meant by not being the new talent - perhaps heâd somehow missed some context. but quickly he let it go in favor of how quickly kurt was handling their conversation. with a smile and a nod, reed outstretched his torso and grabbed a tablet from across the room, only to come back and begin to read off a list of metals. ââŚalright, give me a moment and iâll be right back.â he instructed - getting up and heading into one of his dimensional storage units and coming back with a rather large case. âthis should do it! tell your friend that they can use any sort of material i may have to offer, and the same goes to you, kurt.â
đ â kurt is smiling all the while, watching reed fetch more. âyou are very generous. is there anything you would like made? a gift for sue, perhaps? i am sure xe would be more than happy to humor it!â kurt still didnât know the extent of xer artistry. he doubt even xe knew! the impression he was given was that xe were new to their abilities, still learning the ropes xemselves. Â
âSure thing. Butttttttt any public appearances I do have to go past the Fantastic Four lawyers first. You know, gotta keep my family friendly image,â Johnny said, punctuating it with a wink as he took the card. âNothing R-rated. I mean, Iâm willing to show some skin but not all the way, you know? And hey, when do we talk star billing? Iâm seeing my name in lights.â
đ â Kurtâs hands raise, as well as his shoulders. âI get it, I get it. I have certainly been there.â Dazzling smile in response to the wink. âFamilies are our biggest demographic. The mature shows have their draw too, but not nearly enough to warrant more than one a week.â He should have expected that part. Part of him felt like he did anyway. âIf your lawyers approve.â The Fantastic Four was a big name, the Human Torch especially, and would be a big draw.
rocket gave a nod to the greeting, finding kurt to be pretty friendly despite how rude he was being. maybe that was why groot liked him. but the question that the other had asked, the request was almost too good to pass up and rocket immediately began to brainstorm. âoh yeah, i can think of quite a few things that can work - wanna take me and groot to your circus so we can get some measurements and stuff? also how dense is this person? gotta factor in the weight otherwise nothing will work.â as much as rocket was usually selfish - kurt seemed nice and well, once again, groot liked him. âperfect, i love it when iâm being paid.â
đ â the blue devil nodded his head. âi can do that,â he assured. âhow do you feel about shortcuts?â three-fingered hands stretching out, one each for each. âi do not know exactly. he maxes out our scales.â rocket seemed to already know what he was doing. so, either he did know, or he was good at acting like it. but kurt trusted groot so, heâd trust rocket too. what's the worst that could happen anyway?  âsounds like we have a deal.â
âď¸â The quiet gnaw of the phoenix deeper in their mind kept Jean from dropping too many walls. Kurt had never raised a hand against her, not even in the end of her universe, when they were ripping holes in the fabric of reality. But there was a danger in loyalty too, so they kept their mask firmly in place. âThe most help does seem to be making people smile in this world⌠there doesnât seem to be anything else to do, not anything kind.â
đ â As subtle as she was being, he felt the difference. Like their hands, if placed upon his head, were too light. Too warm. Rays of the sun. âI shelter the ones who need sheltered,â he proudly explained, chest filling with that warmth. âJa. Its their smiles I worry about most.â
đŤ - One would think years and utopia planes of existence of being around Kurt, Meggan might have gotten a little better at not being startled when he bamfed in next to her, but still the faerieâs entire body jumped. Quickly her surprise melted to warm affection, her arms opening without question to welcome the mutant into an embrace. âKurt!â An easy joy washed over her and she let herself settle into the moment with a safe friend, slowly stepping out of familiar fuzzy arms. âI know I just saw you, but, I missed you!â Missed his friendship, his company, his smile, all the things someone could possibly miss about a person, maybe it was how deeply she missed the rest of the Excaliburs almost all of them that made the ache stand out so clearly. âWhat does the mighty ring master need from me today?â A playful glint in Megganâs eye as she gently nudged a finger against his chest.
đ â He did his very best, which wasnât much at all, to not chuckle at her surprise. The warm laughter made it into the embrace, chest shaking gently against hers as blue arms squeezed his beloved Meggan. âI do have that effect,â he teased, raising her hand to his lips to kiss it. Extravagant and lovely and so fluid in the way they acted around one another. âAs a matter of fact, I was coming to ask you that. I have the night free. How may I be of service?âÂ
âAre your jokes always this terrible? Like every guy puts on a costume and thinks he has a sense of humour.â She tutted as she shook her head. What can she say? She loved a good wit. âNow you are just insulting me. I mean, look at me. I am anything but unflattering.â She gestured to herself as if it was obvious. âSorry to say, honey but I am not human. Well, more like enhanced. You get the picture.â She spoke about it flippantly. âThat is a fair point. Well, Iâm on the clock but maybe I can schedule you in for some pointers next time.â Felicia smiled as she leaped to a near ledge, thinking he wouldnât follow.
đ â He found her comment validating, if not entirely welcomed. âOnly most of the time,â he teased. Her attitude may have been ironclad, as well as her call to crime, but the banter between them was lighthearted enough for Kurt to maintain a certain cool. âYou would sacrifice freedom for vanity? Are you sure you are not a diamond?â Likely would keep himself out of it anyway, if the opportunity arose. âMy apologies.â It was rude to assume; enhanced, human, or otherwise. He BAMFâd to the ledge, sticking to the wall beside her perch. âWhat are you going to do with that once you get away? Sell it, grind it down for a protein powder?âÂ
