To our beloved Super Junior,
It has been a wonderful journey. Remembering it all, we get teary-eyed and we feel a strong sense of pride on how far we’ve gone from the start.
Some will never understand why we laugh, why we cry, why we smile, why we mirror everything that you feel. On why a group of fifteen boys that are essentially strangers left such a huge impact on our lives. We cannot fully explain it ourselves. We can never do. In as much as we try to make sense out of it, we only end up with the simple fact that it’s because we love you.
We don’t know how it started and we don’t even know if it will end.
We love you and we can’t help it. At times when we thought we’ve grown out of that love, we get reminded of you at one point and then we realize, time and time again, that no matter what, we might never outgrow you.
You made us laugh, made us cry, made us realize a lot of things… you made us see the beauty in each and every one of you. You are never perfect. And you made that clear the first time we met. You are as imperfect as us. You are abnormally normal, it makes you special in our eyes. You are everything we never looked for and suddenly you are everything that we want.
You are the type that we would easily pass by a street and would not notice; but you are also the kind wherein when we do, we will find it hard to let go.
You weren’t that much back then, do you remember? It has been very hard for you. But to see you strive your way and fight against those struggles to be where you are right now… we saw it all. And looking back through all those times, we could only cry because we have never seen such courage and determination unfold right before our eyes. You unknowingly taught us how to be strong, how to find our dreams, to chase it, and to keep our feet on the ground after everything. We have never shared a cup of coffee nor a casual afternoon talk but you have made us laugh until tears came out of our eyes. You have brightened some of our darkest days and you have made us smile during those times when we can’t hardly look at the world straight in the eye.
Thank you. Thank you for being there.
You do not have any idea how your existence added color to our world. You say that you are the one who’s supposed to be thankful… perhaps, we just have to say thank you to each other then. You have been a constant companion. Like the best friend who has always been there even after a stressful day when all we ever want to do is stuff our face with ice cream and lie lazily in bed. The kind who we would leave alone as we talk to new ones but will always welcome us with open arms once we come running back after our hearts have been broken.
In loving you, we met great people too. And together we’ve become a family. You showed us what real love means. The kind of love that keeps you fighting even if the odds are against you. The kind of love that is pure, the one that never doubts; the kind that believes in promises of forever even if the world says that there is none. The love that doesn’t turn its back on something that is lost. The love so powerful it can keep things together.
You taught us the definition of friendship. The kind that doesn’t hide the truth but tries as much as it can to conceal the hurt just to protect the one they love. Friendship in its truest form. Friendship with all its ugliness, downsides, rough patches, and tears. Friendship in all its beauty.
For friendship is not always about happy smiles. More often than not, friendship is the loud bang of a door being shut after a petty fight. Friendship is tears, insults, and harsh words over a boy/girl/bag/etc. Friendship is hanging up the phone because you’re tired of listening. Friendship is awkward silence after a joke that has been pushed too far. Friendship is fist fights and swearing and not talking to each other for weeks. Friendship hurts.
But more than that, friendship is also “sorry”, “I forgive you”, and “let’s stop this nonsense because I miss you”. Friendship is laughing at and laughing with. Friendship is hidden compliments and straightforward comments. Friendship is long distance telephone calls and random notes. Friendship is a tight hug, a shoulder to lean on, a lending ear. Friendship comforts.
We all know you did not start as good friends. You did not get together because you want to. But as you went on, we saw the bond that has formed between each and every one of you. A bond so strong, spun with love equally great.
It is friendship; when one floats away and yet the others hold on. It is friendship, when space and time is an adversary and the whole world is pitting against you so you pretend to forget but deep inside, you will always remember. It is friendship, when you are shamed and ridiculed for staying with someone but you do not mind because that’s where you’re happy. It is when even if you are pushed away, even when people laugh at you for waiting for nothing, you still do; because that’s what friends do.
Friendship is being able to accept that your happy days now may only be painful memories later; and yet you hold on to them because they are beautiful. Because these are the memories which remind you that, at some part of your life, you have been very happy.
Thank you for always including us. Thank you for always thinking about us. Thank you for returning the love we give you. Thank you for that irrepressible grin whenever someone says they envy our relationship. Thank you for that involuntary smirk whenever someone eats their words after you’ve proved them wrong with your amazing personality and talent. Thank you for that proud smile whenever we think about how we’ve been through it all.
“You and I become us… Words build up, to misunderstandings, to regret, to making up. We’re already inseparable.”
You say we can. But the truth is, we already did. You sing to us about miracles but you do not know that the miracle is you.
It has been a wonderful journey and life has never been better. It’s been ten years… and we’re looking forward to more years forever with you.
We’ll fly away, without anyone left behind. We will show them forever.
With all the love in this sapphire blue world,
Your Ever Lasting Friends
