I adore your work, and love the amount of detail you put into each piece. One of my favorite things about your work is the way you translate in game armor. Have any tips or pointers for drawing in game armor? 🤩 but all in all! Love your art.
Aaah thank you!!! I’ve been getting this specific compliment lately and I’m honestly so flattered? Because to be honest I feel like most of the time, all I’m doing is drawing exactly what I already see in game just.. in a drawing haha. I guess.. if that’s acceptable, my tips and pointers for drawing in game armor.. really depends on what you’re trying to achieve! I think if you want to make your armor sets look more.. believable, you gotta really pick apart what you see on the in game model. I know that a lot of the times, gear is rendered over a relatively flat surface, so things like, pouches and belts and things (up until recently since they’ve been making alot more 3d armor lately!) those things before were usually presented pretty flat in game, like painted on the model instead of just existing as a 3D object in space.
So for things like that, I think it’s important to sit down and really observe what the original artist was attempting to convey in the very limited medium they were given. layers, under armor, chain mail, straps and buckles can all already be seen on many in game sets as it is, so the next step naturally when drawing is to just, observe and draw it. Pay attention to the bumps and curves in a piece of armor. Even referencing the way that real life armor works and is set up can help greatly in knowing what to look for when you observe the in game models and their gear. I think a solid foundation in real life armor can really help here, I know that for me, figuring out how real life armor naturally sits on each other really helps translate the flat, painted on textures in wow. Hmm.. I feel like I’m rambling. I’m by no means an expert, clearly, I hope any of this info helps even a lil bit haha.. ;v; thanks again for the message. It was very sweet!!!
