Characters who throw up because they’re in so much pain my beloved. It just shows how MUCH it is effecting them, that it’s not contained, that the pain is so bad their whole body and being is writhing.

Absolute favourite thing is when Whumpee doesn’t understand what’s happening — they remember Whumper, and then they were here, in this bed, laying broken and helpless. Nothing hurts anymore, but the stabbing pain is replaced by wires and tubes and a strange, fuzzy feeling in their head. “Wh’s this for?” They ask, and Caretaker gently explains that the tube going into their arm is an IV, giving them medicine to help the pain, and some nutrients to help them recover. “Feels weird, tho.” Well, that’s the meds going in, sweetie. It’s okay. But they finally rest, and the questions come again. What’s this? Why do I feel weird? Where am I? Where’s whumper? Caretaker answers again and again but Whumpee is so out of it, they don’t understand. they don’t retain that information.

Whumpee who doesn’t even realise they’ve passed out before waking up. They were awake, dizzy, too hot, and then dreams start to creep in, and they’re not even aware that what they’re experiencing isn’t reality anymore. Until they wake up to a gentle voice. “Hush now. You’re alright.” Their hands are curled around warm wrists. Their skin slowly registering the soft bedsheets that weren’t there last time. That gentle voice… Caretaker. Where … what happened….

A solemn shake of the head, "Nothing."

"What is it, whumpee?"

"I'm sorry I had to keep leaving. I was trying to get you blankets and tea so you'd be more comfortable."

"I don't need all that shit, I need..." Another sputtering sigh.

"Actually," Caretaker looks in the general direction of the kitchen, as if listening for something. "The tea might be ready."

"God damn it, caretaker."

"Huh?"

Tears brim in whumpees jaded eyes, a quiver present in their usual stern voice. "Quit fucking with me and stay. I don't beg. I don't ask for shit." Their voice, their whole demeanor breaks. "I don't want to be alone. Not for one second."

"Oh..." Caretakers face goes pink. "I'll stay, but um... I should really turn off the stove.*

Whumpee covers their worn face, biting back a barrage of desperate pleading. Being bedridden, they had all the time in the world to contemplate and remember everything that happened to them. That led them here, with caretaker. They couldn't bear another lonely, introspective second of this.

"I'll be right back, whumpee," caretaker says, standing. "The kitchens just around the corner."

Whumpee sighs, barely composed, ready to burst into sobs as soon as caretaker leaves their sight. "Don't get lost."

The pure, primal fear Whumpee feels after so long in captivity/being tortured. They’re being rescued, Caretaker and their team approaching.

Whumpee scrambles back, eyes wide and breaths shallow. “Don’t— don’t..” They stammer, every muscle tensed with adrenaline and fear. Too close— too close now! They scramble to the side, dodging past Caretaker and team and making a beeline for the door. They can’t think, can’t breathe can’t anything when all they see is that door. Away from these people. Then suddenly they’re on the floor and there are hands hands hands pulling at them and touching their face and patting their leg but they can’t think of that. Just out. They need to get out— up, away from them. They struggle and try and get up, hardly comprehending where they are, just that they have to get away.

Eventually, Whumpee is held down until whatever primal instinct that overtook them has gone, or at least softened. They are completely exhausted, eyes dazed, shaking like a leaf. Quiet. Like a subdued wild animal.

oooh this is very fun. What if also, a whumpee trying not to escape but to stay in the room. Leaving always meant pain, with others or not. They want so desperately to not feel pain anymore. Fighting and disobedience meant pain too, but if they were already leaving the room then it wouldn’t matter if they fought. They would get pain either way.

they struggle and struggle to stay, rescue team not understanding why. Eventually whumpee is subdued or overpowered. And team takes them out of the room sobbing and pleading

love it when whumpee is high as a kite on painkillers. their brain-to-mouth filter becomes non-existent.

caretaker is by their side, taking care of them as they babble and giggle and cry. caretaker tries not to let the things whumpee says get to them. a more honest idea of what happened to them is horrifying and heart-wrenching.

"oh, this doesn't hurt—" a little giggle, "Before, I had to stay still and. there were, veryyy big needles, and it would make me cry. but then I'd get hurt. more."

"blankets? for me? why? but I won't die if I'm not warm!"

"no, no, let me stay on the floor! please don't hurt me, please, I'll be good, don't tell—" choking on whumper's name, "—please. I'll do anything."

"hey, do you think I'm broken?"

"c'n sl'p?" mumbling drowsily, "y'u c'n thr'w me o'ts'd aft'r!"

caretaker has to endeavour to make their voice gentle and unassuming, their responses soothing. they can't let their anger or their sadness show. they can't.

Whumpee who is in a team is sooo good. Each member has their own relationship with the whumpee, their own copong mechanisms and personalities. So when Whumpee goes missing and returns different and traumatised, they need to comfort some, prove themselves to others. The other Team members speak about whumpee, about their recovery and how they will, together, care for them.

when a character has to fight a Big Group of people, and they get more and more injured as the fight drags on... 🥰

Whumpee who only realises how hungry they are after Caretaker gives them a small sip. They sit up from their soft bed, weak but so, so determined. A quiet whimper escapes their lips as they weakly reach for the bowl themselves. Caretaker shakes their head, a look of affectionate concern furrowing their face. “No, if you have too much you’ll make yourself sick. Just the few sips for now, I know.”

nonhuman whumpee who, while being rescued, has to have their eyes covered up so they don’t thrash around and panic— maybe hurting someone.
