Formal announcement time!

In three weeks, on Saturday, November 5th, you are invited to the first annual Obscuritory 24-Hour Charity Game Marathon Tea Party!

So… what is this, exactly?

November 5th is Extra Life, a gaming marathon fundraising event in support of Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals. I’ll be streaming for 24 hours straight in support of the Children’s National Medical Center, the only pediatric hospital in the Washington, DC area.

So starting at midnight EDT on November 5th, I’ll be playing multimedia software, shareware CDs, edutainment titles, weird old experiments, and who knows what else while soliciting donations from you wonderful people. My fundraising goal this year is $150, and if we can reach that… I’m going to play an extremely terrible DOS game I made when I was 10 years old. It will be worth it.

And, as the name suggests, I’m going to be drinking a lot of tea to get myself through this. I’m big on black teas (and sometimes herbal, depends), so I’ll be sharing my favorite blends over the course of the day. You’re welcome to drink tea too!

Stay tuned for more info. I’m going to try to block out the 24-hour schedule so you can tune in if you want to see something specific. If anyone has any suggestions about what you’d like see streamed, please drop a line!

If we reach our $150 goal I'm going to turn up the difficulty of this evening's Resident Evil 2 knife and gun only run. If the donation incentive is met I'll be unlocking the secret costumes for the game. What do y'all think of this Miitomo app?

It’s kind of like a game, but more like a place to play.

The drop games always yeilds rewards. The lucky and skilled players can win exclusive clothing items.

Clothes can be used to dress up your fully customizable mii character. Changing your clothes daily reaps rewards in the form of coins for Nintendo’s “My Nintendo” reward program.

A core aspect of the game is answering seemingly random questions and reading the responses your friends have provided. These interactions also is rewarded the player with coins.

One failing of the app is that I am not sure very many people are using it. I have very few friends so if you’d like to be my Miitomo friend send me a message and we’ll make that happen.

Let me know what you think of this app.

Funfact: It’s interesting to note that this is the first big game produced by Nintendo for the mobile platform. That in itself gives the game some sort of historic value, if little else.
