how the ao3 collection works
While the kink meme is primarily hosted here on tumblr for visibility, the ao3 collection acts as an archive for prompts and submissions!
I highly encourage that everyone who has posts a prompt or submission also does so on the ao3 collection linked on the main page. This is simply for accessibility and archival reasons, but if you don't feel comfortable doing so, it is not the end of the world!
However, please keep in mind that as an admin, I am only allowed to "post" and "claim" 50 prompts, so if the number of prompts on tumblr becomes larger than that, they won't show up on ao3.
For ao3 specific rules and instructions, please see the ao3 collection and read through the steps on how to post, delete, and claim prompts. However, I will do my best to answer some of the frequently asked questions here:
How does anonymity on AO3 work?
There isn't true anonymity on AO3 in the same way that there was on LiveJournal. Anyone can go to the "People" tab on the side menu and see participants in the challenge, so if you've submitted or filled prompts, you will show up there. However, they can't see which prompts you submit or which you have filled.
Do I have to post my prompt or claim on Ao3?
Not at all, but doing so highly increases the chance of your prompt/work being seen and read by others. The tumblr page is a great way for community engagement, and for others to see the kind of fics/works that the community wants -- but tumblr is not a great archive. That is where Ao3 comes in.
How does prompting on Ao3 work?
From the challenge dashboard or profile, click "Sign Up" and submit as many prompts as you'd like. You can go to "My Prompts" from the side menu and add more prompts at any time, if you think of more.
From the menu on the side, click "claim" on the prompts you would like to fill. After that, your claims will be accessible via "Unposted Claims.
What if I want to delete a prompt?
No problem. You can simply go to "My Prompts" and delete either individual prompts or your sign-up as a whole (which will take away ALL your prompts).
What if I don't want to or can't fill a claim anymore?
It's a similar process to deleting your prompts. Just go to "My Claims" and click "Drop Claim.
Can I post something non-anonymously?
You can, but it's a bit complicated. I can manually reveal authors, so if you would like for a claim/fill to be made public, please shoot me a message on @newdejavuu or @bandombullshtkinkmeme on tumblr
Can I prompt without having an AO3 account?
Unfortunately, challenge participation is restricted to only those with AO3 accounts at this time. However, it's really easy to sign up!
