MCR: What We Know So Far - ‘the return of My Chemical Romance’
March 22nd, 2013 was a harrowing day for all My Chemical Romance fans and members of the MCRMY alike. That was the day our famous boys in black decided to call it quits after over 10 years of intense touring, writing, album releasing and throwing their punk selves into the mainstream with songs like ‘Welcome To The Black Parade’ and ‘Helena’, two of their most successful songs to date. Our emo hearts were broken and we thought it was the end for our precious New Jerseyan pop-punk band.
On the 31st of October (yes that's right, Halloween of all days!) this year, we were all shocked back into our black skinnies and eyeliner by one specific post. One Instagram account creation. One vague yet promising post.
It started with an Instagram story posting frenzy featuring nothing but symbols, a candle, a hand, and three others all featuring a strange rune type symbol. Of course, within minutes the internet decided it was time to explode with joy and all but crash twitter, bringing My Chemical Romance up to the top trending spot within couple mere hours maybe even less.
That was just the beginning of this insane rollercoaster and it still has not ended, but do I think it will?
Well, for the My Chem long-time fans, it never ended in the first place. March 22nd was more of a bookmark in the collection of chapters that make up this force of a band’s career, and October 31st just removed that bookmark, giving way to a brand new chapter that no one was expecting.
Since their first post, Tour dates for both the Australia and Tokyo Download Festival have been announced as headlining shows along with bands such as Evanescence and Jimmy Eat World with an accompanying New Zealand show featuring the forementioned band on the 25th of March 2020. Not just that, but their first reunion show is set to happen on December 20th in sunny Los Angeles, California at the Shrine Expo Hall, a show which sold out in only minutes when the tickets were released on November 1st.
The information we have so far isnt particularly extensive, however, I think we can expect so much more to come in the future and i truly believe that were in store for a historical event in the Music calendar when My Chemical Romance finally perform on stage together again, reunited once more as one of the most commercially successful bands in punk rock history with what I believe will be one hell of a come back show. I will leave you with the first post the band made addressing their return, which I think is not just a perfect example of how much this means to the fans, but to the band members too.
