The decline.
The first 10 days of ramadan for a bangladeshi muslim family or for any muslim family for that matter seems to be full of excitement, activity, promise and habit changes. We wake up for suhur. We quit smoking (other bad habits), we try to get back in touch with people we've fallen off with or are in bad favour with, we go to the #taraweeh nightprayers. We try to learn the deen. Read quran. Do zikr. But then some of us fall of our high horse. Revert back to our old ways for the next 10 days. And then finally we try to reignite for the last ten days, seek forgiveness, pay alms and try to become better more innocent like in a past life. I'd like to say this year was different for me but it wasn't. Less than a week left and I didn't take advantage of the blessed month. There's always next year I say, but only god knows who lives to see another ramadan. #solemn #humbling #thoughts.
