caring for a bank teller is not as easy of a task as many people think, but it can be a rewarding process, when done right.

alright yall, let's talk about the elephant in the room: enclosure size

bank tellers are naturally a social species, and their enclosures should reflect that. there should be enough space for fellow tellers to work alongside your teller(s).

its for this reason that i recommend you get an enclosure no smaller than 3000 square feet for your teller(s) to work in, or closer to 4000 if you can. this provides space for the workstations, a break room, a well-sized vault, alongside a bathroom, all of which are large contributors to a content teller.

its a big investment of space, but as comes with most things with pets, its very much worth it.

hot take that shouldnt be a hot take: if you cannot fulfill the recommended enclosure size for a pet, you just shouldn't get that pet.

i've talked a good bit about the minimum amount of tellers should be in one workforce (plural noun for bank tellers, if you didn't know), but now i'd like to bring up an interesting counterpoint: whats the maximum amount of tellers that should be in one workforce?

i would place it somewhere around ~15 tellers, in a standard sized bank. from there, it can be not only difficult to maintain a proper workflow to each one, but also difficult to give each the right amount of attention. beyond that, it can even be hard for the tellers themselves to form meaningful relationships between one another.

i'd say only go up above ten tellers if youre an experienced teller owner, and even then, accumulate them over time, don't try to rush through the process.

TLDR: to decide how many tellers you can own, pay attention to your own skill level and experience level with tellers, and slowly bring yourself up to whatever level you believe you can maintain

to properly socialize your bank teller, make sure you keep them in a group with at least three other coworkers. its best to personally go get bank tellers yourself, either in pre-selected groupings or by your own selection, so that every teller can cultivate the right bonds with on another. in the case that you cannot care for more than one or two tellers, though, you can always make acquaintances with another teller owner over social media and arrange group work days, to try out seeing how your tellers work together

1. give them proper holidays off of work, just like you or i might get!!

2. make sure they have fast and slow points to their day, to emulate real workflow

in my previous posts, i've mentioned the possibility of a botched bank robbery and how that might traumatize any robbers or tellers involved.

now, i want to inform you on one of the possible solutions for that: hired security

security is not something that every bank needs, or even that every bank should have. i'd go so far as to argue that it can be actively detrimental to certain banks' hierarchies and processes.

however, when a teller in your care undergoes injury due to a botched robbery or something of the sort, hired security can help promote a feeling of safety as they heal both emotionally and physically from the event.

TLDR: hired security is a great tool for rebuilding confidence in traumatized teller(s), but outside of that, is to be used in moderation.

tip on how to keep your teller(s) happy:

make sure your vault is always fully stocked with plenty of stacks of cash and gold bars. its vital that your tellers believe their work is important, and nothing does that better than a safe full of valuables, real or not.

see THIS is the kind of energy that a properly socialized bank teller should be able to get from clientele. although not every teller is so extroverted, this type of happiness and community is what every teller owner strives to get their teller(s) to build

tellers should not understand any circumstance be stored in such small compartments. they do not provide good stimulus, are limiting, and can promote a sense of helplessness, all of which actively hinder a teller's ability to do their job efficiently.

while funny as a joke, in practice, all this is is teller neglect

tip on setting up bank robberies for your teller(s): make sure you get the right kind of robbers.

now this may seem obvious to long-time, experienced teller owners, but especially to newer owners, this can be a challenging thing to determine.

generally you want one robber to every two tellers, but regardless of teller count, never have less than two robbers.

personality also factors in on this. don't get robbers that are too aggressive or too submissive for your teller(s). this can result, one way or another, in a botched robbery as well as traumatized teller(s) and/or robber(s)

and most importantly, always be standing towards the side to intervene if a robbery goes wrong. for the end goal, you want your teller(s) to be able to handle a robbery all on their own, but not at their own injury, so don't be afraid to step in if necessary.

your bank teller(s), alongside any others that they work with, should ideally be trained on the proper thing to do during a robbery, as to avoid injury. regardless, dazzling the teller(s) present at the time is always best.

Honestly banking is a pretty good job. It's a day job no nights, I'll work a half day one or two Saturdays a month. We get all the Fed Holidays off. I get to wear cute clothes. I make more money than I ever have.

If you are leaving high school and don't want to go to collage, or can't for whatever reason, try get a job as a bank teller. A lot of the people I work with never went to collage but are making good money. There are a LOT of banking jobs that pay well and don't need a degree.
