Found another R.U.R. version
Sometimes I find other versions of the play, and the one I found today caught my attention with a couple of details.
One of the details that wasn't in my printed version: Radius is nervous(I also saw it in @wormthing comic, btw I like it very much ᰔ. But in their comic, it was expressed by Radius clenching and unclenching his fists, I would honestly like to know what version of the book this is). Dr. Gall and Alquist noticed it.
I. Dr. Gall is talking about this to Helena, after letting Radius go:
DR. GALL
Reaction of the pupils; increase of sensitiveness. It wasn’t
an attack characteristic of the Robots.
HELENA
What was it, then?
DR. GALL
Heavens knows. Stubbornness, anger or revolt!–– I don’t know.
And his heart, too!
HELENA
What?
DR. GALL
It was fluttering with nervousness like a human heart. He was all in a sweat with fear, and!–– do you know, I don’t believe the rascal is a Robot at all any longer.
HELENA
Doctor, has Radius a soul?
DR. GALL
He’s got something nasty.
II. There was no Damon in this version, so his lines were spoken by Radius. When Alquist offers Radius to "volunteer":
ALQUIST
You will have it? Into the dissecting room with you, then.
(RADIUS draws back)
Ah, you are afraid of death.
RADIUS
I? Why should I be chosen?
ALQUIST
So you will not.
RADIUS
I will
I know it was in the final version, but I didn't really pay attention because it wasn't said by my favorite characterꈍᴗꈍ
