First of all, I’ve been doing sex work for over 15 years and having gay sex for more like 20. For my first several years in the industry I identified as 100% super gay, but since this is my job and I actually need to make money, 99.99% of my clientele were men. Porn star vs. escort

I rarely post on this account anymore but I have a topic (that I personally find interesting) that I don’t think is great to post anywhere else. I don’t watch a ton of porn but I do watch some. I find the treatment of escorts and porn stars to be vastly different and I wanted to talk about it. Now, I do realize that some porn stars do escort as well. I will also disclose, I have never done porn.

I find that generally speaking, porn stars have more “real bodies” than escorts. I do not mean this negatively in any way. I have seen quite a few porn stars that have some belly chub, cellulite, saggy boobs, big areolas, thick thighs, etc and guys love it. But if an escort has any of those things, you are either immediately labeled as a BBW or harassed.

I thought of why that might be. I think a big part of it is that men just hate an independent woman. As someone who was forced into sex work because of extreme economic circumstance (aka poverty), I would probably be considered one of those who “wanted out”

But using me as a statistic to silence sex workers who love their jobs and continue working by choice DID NOT HELP ME

Four years ago, I begged my day-job boss to give me more hours.  BEGGED.   Said if something didn’t change soon I would have to become a sex worker in order to feed my family.  Nobody helped me.  I didn’t qualify for any government assistance programs.  Minimum wage was $8/hr at the time, and it was not even close to being enough to survive.  I had no other options.  Sex work was my ultimate last resort.

Because of websites like Backpage, I didn’t have to work on the street, where conditions are a thousand times more dangerous.  Redbook allowed me to screen clients by looking at their review history.  But in the back of my mind there was always an incredible amount of fear. Fear of law enforcement trumped my fear of bad clients. An arrest would have destroyed my entire family. Because I was terrified of the police, I took many clients that I should not have, and in doing so subjected myself to abuse in several cases.

The notion that sex workers should just “get another job” because of tightened prostitution laws is unfair and unrealistic. Many of those you claim to support because they “want out” are already doing sex work as a last resort.  There is no other job. This is it.  Taking away the few safety precautions they have is pulling the rug out from under them and making their job that much more dangerous.  Again, for many of us, sex work was our only option.

You will never eradicate the sex industry, and these moral crusades to “end demand” do nothing but harm those you claim to care about.

If you really want to help people exit the industry, advocate for a living wage.  Advocate for better addiction services that help rather than punish addicts.  Provide assistance to LGBT teens who were disowned from their families and are now living on the streets.  Stop the school-to-prison pipeline. The problem is a societal one that cannot be fixed with anti-prostitution laws.

More TER idiocy

Discussion of TER and BP

There has been a lot of talk about this recently because on ¼/17, TER rolled out some changes. Previously if you offered any of the services ‘bbbj’, ‘dfk’, ‘anal’, ‘two guys’ or ‘really bi’ you could get up to a 10/10 on your performance score. The new change mandates that you actually PERFORM the service durin that very appointment to get the points.

Obviously this is incredibly problematic. Logistically, there would be relatively few instances where a provider could get points for being ‘really bi’. Either she sees a female client or she sees a couple. Duo reviews are not linked to your account and do not count towards your overall score/ranking. So to get a 10, you have to do bbbj, dfk, and anal. I do not know the overall percentage of ladies who do anal but it does seem somewhat uncommon.

TER basically is trying to control provider’s business by penalizing them for not offering certain services. They have taken away some of the power from reviewers as they can no longer score by discretion. This decision hurts both providers and clients as the relative range of performance scores will now be between 7-9. TER does say they are adding a ‘chemistry’ and ‘location’ section for scoring as well. There are inherent problems with this as well and I could have a huge post about that alone. I will refrain and simply say that it is unfair of TER to roll out one change but not the others. So for a period of time, ladies who are reviewed will be subject to the new scores but not have the ability to be rated for the new categories.

I’m not sure if TER knew about BP’s adult section closing or Rs2k being in hot water. Probably they did and maybe this is their effort to further try to dominate the market. In a perfect world, ladies would delist and stand up together but with so few marketing tools left that are affordable, this will not happen. It’s very disheartening

Discussion of TER and BP

There has been a lot of talk about this recently because on 1/4/17, TER rolled out some changes. Previously if you offered any of the services ‘bbbj’, ‘dfk’, ‘anal’, ‘two guys’ or ‘really bi’ you could get up to a 10/10 on your performance score. The new change mandates that you actually PERFORM the service durin that very appointment to get the points.

Obviously this is incredibly problematic. Logistically, there would be relatively few instances where a provider could get points for being ‘really bi’. Either she sees a female client or she sees a couple. Duo reviews are not linked to your account and do not count towards your overall score/ranking. So to get a 10, you have to do bbbj, dfk, and anal. I do not know the overall percentage of ladies who do anal but it does seem somewhat uncommon.
