Does anybody know of anyone who does doll customizations for commission? I’m thinking fashion dolls, specifically. The customization I have in mind would be for an existing fictional character so I’d have reference images and whatnot.

I’ve no clue how any of this works or if it’s even a thing so if anyone has any advice it’d be very appreciated 😄

Those who are praising Barbie's new Creatable World line don't realize how much a screw you this is to the parents.

None of these dolls will fit the basic Barbie and Ken doll clothes which means if a little girl wants one these dolls, the parents have to shell out the money for clothes that fit them.

And if previous specialty lines are any indication, the extra clothes won't be no 4 dollars aka how much a basic Barbie outfit can cost.

It's basically Mattel trying to suck money out of a movement and drain a parent's pocket this holiday season.

Oh come off it. These dolls aren’t Barbie, they aren’t under the Barbie brand header and they aren’t connected to her. Mattel makes loads of different dolls and this might be shocking to you but they almost never use Barbie parts.

They have a new body because they consulted with multiple external sources and ended up having an androgynous child as the base. At launch they aren’t even selling additional fashions, the dolls themselves come with a huge selection of pieces to mix and match.

If you’re so worried about parts reuse they reuse Barbie’s feet so they can wear Barbie shoes.

Mattel making a gender queer doll line is a huge risk and huge step forward so don’t try and act like it’s something nefarious, in an age when the existence of LGBT people is tenuous in kids media these dolls even happening is a miracle.
