The King was not entirely certain what was going on right now. The poor were always engaged in odd affairs. The concept of work and then going home was something he never understood truly. All the same it was best they both not understand one another.

she maintains the customer service attitude for as long as she can,  with her dark claws drumming on the back of the steel serving tray tucked beneath her arm.  he doesn’t answer her,  which she takes to mean he’s uninterested in sitting in this stifling restaurant long enough to drain another glass of château räum.

barb doesn’t give a shit if his experience with the meal was subpar,  but she has been lingering on his first sentence.  she’s inclined to express sincere curiosity by sidling into the chair across from him,  bright eyes attentive,  “hey,  did you say—you know someone who’s hiring?”

“hey, this seat taken? just noticed you’ve been here for a while,” approaching people at a bar was always easy — for her, anyway. she falls into an idle lean against the counter, chin propped atop slender claws. she wiggles two in greeting, the ones deliberately filed blunt.
