“The most disrespected person in America is the black woman. The most unprotected person in America is the black woman. The most neglected person in America is the black woman.”
-Malcolm X (1962)
Zoë by Mark Seliger.
Sometimes it’s actually anxiety and depression from childhood trauma....not your lack of faith or trust in the Lord. It is not fear sent to you from the devil. The devil doesn’t have it out for you. The world isn’t out to get you. You’re not a walking target and being “under attack” isn’t a sign that you’re special and you must continue to suffer because you’re “the chosen one.” Suffering is not gauge for how devoted you are to God. Love should not require extensive periods of suffering just to prove its real. Fear is not strictly from “the enemy” or a sign that you don’t really believe in or love God but they don’t teach you that. They bible thump, judge, shame, guilt trip, isolate and scare you instead. Please stop this. Please educate about mental health instead of leaving people in torment thinking they’re going to hell for having fears or feelings for that matter. Tell them they aren’t crazy, the devil is not after them and God loves them. Teach people that they’re loved for exactly who they are and that they are enough. Teach them they don’t have to change overnight for someone to be accepted. Teach them that they don’t have to make drastic changes to be loved by God or to receive blessings, help, favors, etc. Teach them that it’s safe to communicate and be vulnerable with others that have earned their trust. Teach them boundaries are a sign of self-care and aren’t a sign they they don’t unconditionally love “God’s people.” Teach people that they don’t have to remain wide open to prove they’re a loving and willing individual. Teach them that being open isn’t a quick and easy way to be under attack. Vulnerability is not easy access to be destroyed or broken. Tell them they don’t have to be in relationship with people out of obligation to “save” them and to do the “Lord’s work.” Tell them it’s actually okay to love yourself and have love for God or the universe or any other way they decide to give back to a higher power and show gratitude. Tell them self-love is not an act of selfishness. Teach people it’s okay to be curious and that it’s okay to ask questions. Teach them it’s okay to question God. Teach them it’s okay when you don’t have all the answers and that it’s okay if you don’t get a sign right away. It’s okay to just not know. Teach them to trust their gut instincts and their intuition. Teach them that it’s okay to trust yourself and it doesn’t mean you don’t trust God. Tell them it’s okay to pour into others and it’s not an act of neglect to God. Teach them it’s okay to find a balance between a relationship with self and a relationship with others. Teach people that it’s okay to be human. ITS OKAY TO BE HUMAN.
I recall your soul and it tastes like Gardens, flowers, warm winds...
Need this
I know everyone needs to memorize this
“Always recognize that human individuals are ends, and do not use them as means to your end.”
— Karl Popper, The Open Society and Its Enemies
Need me a freak like that 😭😭😭
Communication is not about proving a point. It’s about expressing a point. Know the difference
