They mirror vows, for better for worse. It takes time and the right person to truly understand that, we think we understand this concept but we truly don't until we experience it. It's been on my mind all night.

This is how I’ve described the connection between Hoax and Daylight:
Imagine Taylor walking through a long, dark tunnel. Daylight captures hows she’s feeling when focusing on the light at the end of that tunnel. She can see it. She knows how long the tunnel is and she’s moving forward toward that light and that’s all she can think about because she’s knows that light is so good. Other times she gets overwhelmed by the darkness surrounding her in the tunnel and the light is too far way for her to focus on. That’s Hoax. We see this a lot with her, writing about the same situation from different emotional places. Wildest Dreams (negatively fatalistic about a new relationship), Delicate (anxious about a new relationship) and ITHK (confident and giddy about a new relationship) is another example.
I’m not sure if you already addressed this but do you think peace is really from KK’s pov? Personally, I think it’s actually from TS’s pov contrary to that popular theory. The song was too confessional to be from other person’s pov and the song literally screams too Taylor imo. In my mind, peace is like the child of The Archer and DWOHT. 🤷♀️
I agree. I did address it if you scroll down my blog. As a general rule, I’ve never agreed with TS singing from KK’s perspective, even though it comes up a lot in kaylor song theories (Gorgeous is most pooular, but there are others.) And in this album we even have TS herself saying she’s singing from other people’s perspectives, but I still don’t see it in this song.
The thing is that we’ve always seen kk as her protector. Kk built a fire just to keep her warm. She melted her frozen heart after her loss of faith in love in 2013. She keeps her head down. She’s got her back. She’s her sunshine, her daylight. But what gets less focus is that it goes both ways and we’ve heard that as well. Taylor says I stay when it’s hard and you’re turning away. I’ll be there if you’re the toast of the town or you strike out and you’re crawling home. And even kk said “I’ll always have her back and she’ll always have mine.” And I can’t see how anyone can deny that kk has had a rough go of it the last couple of years. But even before that, we’ve heard anecdotes of kk randomly bursting into tears at the drop of a hat, but being able to pull herself together and get back to work. It’s been hard on her, and when your love is hurting, you are hurting. So on this album I think we see a lot of this hurt and pain associated with their circumstances. Stuff that was glossed over (but hinted at) on rep, more strongly addressed on Lover, and focused on in folklore.
And in Peace she’s saying I will give you everything I can, even a child (😭,) but i can’t give you Peace, because I am a mess (I’m the mess that you wanted from DWOHT, themes from the archer and other songs.) I think we even have a very strong hint here of Taylor backing out of her come out last year. There are a lot of connections to earlier KK songs in Peace. We’ve got a reference to the silence from YAIL. We’ve got the fire to keep you warm and the brother from CIWYW. We’ve got the “enough” from both YAIL and KOMH, the I would die for you from False God, the friend from Dress, Paper Rings, and INTHAF, I’d swing with you for the fences (a baseball saying which means go for a home run but risk striking out) parallels NYD’s strike out and crawling home, give you my sunshine mimics living in winter I am your summer and make your gray days clear (SIG). And mostly, we’ve got this inability to have peace, which references this neverending war (referencing back to YAIL, the archer, here with the trenches line,) and I would argue is the dream from The Lakes.
You can hear it in the silence/The silence that comes when two people understand each other

She has contrasted these two relationships over and over and over again. But it can be summed up with “standing broad shouldered next to her was a love that was really something not just the idea of something.”

You knocked on the wrong door if you came here thinking I will give you a reason to think you are right about T settling for second best.
First of all
Second of all, here is some reading comprehension for you, if you are hung up on that old relationship it means you lived through it so I am assuming you are an adult. by now So you are either in college or have a job. So I am wondering how you go on with your life with little to no critical thinking. Yes I am extra petty today so you are in no luck.
So Taylor wrote/recorded YAIL before Clean, within days to couple of weeks. And yes in Clean she does indeed say she is not gonna risk it, but did you stop for a second there and think that what she meant by that is risking a relapse into that old relationship? Thus her being clean from it? And even if you read it as clean from falling madly in love again, you’d think that the opposite feelings that led here to write something as simple as: no proof not much, you saw enough. Imagine a love so peaceful she kept linking it to soothing silence, while everything (mostly towards the end, even if the love was there at some point) in the previous relationship was loud and saturated and anxiety inducing.
And I don’t know about you but I personally think her Maid of Honor speech at Brit’s wedding in 2016 was inspired from her relationship with Karlie, not the toxic one she got clean from years ago

Do yourself a favor and listen but mostly read the love songs on REP and YAIL again, look into the parallel drawn between the past rs and the one that came after it in Wildest Dreams/Delicate and try to convince yourself that the hesitation did not come from the fact that she was an emotional wreck at some point and started to lose hope in love, queue KOMH after it and see her mentioning the mending of broken bones, or RFI when she says how every love in comparison is a failure.
I know I am not here to convince you because I have seen you messaging people oh so many times. But this is for my own pettiness and a reminder that toxic relationships should stop being fetichized especially when you got another one right before your eyes that she, herself, describes in a truly wonderful way. It was even beyond everyone’s expectations here.

@barefootdancinglovers I’ve given my observations based off of deductive reasoning, that keep on being proven to be true, several times. I don’t rely on “insiders”, as I don’t need them. I’ve dealt with angry newbie Kaylors since 2017 when I suggested something that didn’t sit right with the fandom.
No one gives a damn about your "deductive reasoning" that YOU think is logical and nothing is being proven true in your galaxy. And I don't care about "insiders". I listen to Taylor you know? As an artist and as a person. She's a human not a hologram you project your fantasies on. Maybe if you spent more time streaming reputation and lover... But in your head you still think most of the song are about that one person, and maybe a bunch of others.
