In reality, Douxie sort of just shrugs it off because he's already seen Jim- both troll form and when he was parading around Arcadia as a masked vigilante- and, really, this just explains everything.
Okay my pen ran out of battery halfway through this one but I honestly think the mouse sketches might be funnier than anything I could do with more detail.
I call it 'Instant realization' also known as 'That baby gives bad vibes' or 'Get that thing away from me or so help me'
AU where a spider falls into the mix whilst Merlin's making the amulet and he figures that it's probably fine and won't do anything only for Jim to don the armour and have it irrevocably change his biology.
Spider-hunter. Troll-man. Spider-troll.

All very loose and not really plotted ideas since the drawing came first so forgive any contradictions or mistakes.
The spider was probably magical but I think it's funnier if it's not.
Jim probably doesn't need the troll potion now but he has neon blue webs coming out of his wrists and basically a permanent migraine from all the danger he's in so-
He's failing History because of his danger sensing ability, even before he finds out about Strickler's allegiance. Blinky theorizes that Jim must feel so safe in History class that his brain, subconsciously recognising that he's not paying attention to his surroundings, may be purposefully triggering his ability in order to keep him on guard.
Jim doesn't stop kicking himself once he discovers the truth
(There was one occasion after he missed a rehearsal that his sense went off in Miss Janeth's class. He tried really hard not to miss any more rehearsal's after that. Never again.)
Strickler doesn't catch Jim in the changing rooms with Toby before the play auditions because he jumps onto the ceiling to hide. This isn't an ability known to any of the previous Trollhunters so Strickler doesn't think to look up and assumes that Jim left. After he walks out, Jim's spider sense dies down and the armour comes off. He takes the long way to avoid Strickler seeing him leave the changing room and tries out for the play on a whim when he walks passed the open auditorium.
The grit-shaka makes him pass out from conflicting effects (his spider sense fighting against the totem's magic) before he can run off on his own but Bular still manages to tell him Strickler's identity in another way. I have ideas, they aren't nice.
(Every Spider-man needs an Uncle Ben, right? I've only ever watched, like, two movies and someone else play the Insomniac Spider-man games in the background of me doing something else but I think I'm right about this.)
During the Angor Rot arc his danger sensing basically never turns off, just fades into the background. It was at its worst when Strickler first returned to Arcadia.
(The Darklands is worse. When he gets back home he can't stop feeling like it's too quiet.)
Arcadia is vaguely aware that they have a superhero but they don't know what he's fighting other than maybe the goblins or random criminals? I haven't gotten that far yet. They're still unaware of trolls though
By about the time the Tarrons show up, Area 49-B are trying to track down Jim. They think he's an extraterrestrial. They haven't been involved before this because the Janus Order were working overtime to keep it under wraps from them
Darci's Dad and Claire's Mom are the 'Jameson' of the AU in a more well-meaning way. A good part of Ophelia's campaign is getting the Spider-hunter off of the streets.
Steve's a fan of the Spider-hunter and weirdly bonds with Eli over it? They never address their nerd-out sessions, even after they start the Creepslayerz.
Maybe I'll do another sketch or two but I just wanted to get this out
Just a quick sketch mostly to practice colouring Jim's armour a bit.
If I had to add any more lore to it then I'd imagine that Toby took the picture on the bridge when Jim wasn't prepared for it and they had it framed for Barbara for Mother's day. Maybe she thinks it's just his Romeo costume still or maybe it's an old picture and a Mother's day in the future when she's aware of Jim being the Trollhunter.
Caine's deletion was so horrifying. From a character perspective. It's the antithesis of his character. No flare, no theatrics, none of the showmanship that he's used throughout the show (both positive and negative). Just fear on his face and then gone. No special effects, just gone, silent, empty space.
Like, even after everything he'd just done I felt my stomach drop.
I don't think my jaw has ever fallen lower as I've watched this show as it was at multiple points throughout this episode.
The scream I scrumpt when the credits rolled might've woken up half the neighbourhood.
Something something various similarities. Children with a want for adventure in their lives who get more than they bargained for and end up in a situation where they are the protectors of the balance between humans and magic.
Got the time to binge the last three episodes I'd fallen behind on a while ago and I think I've just passed shock and hit the denial stage. They are all fine. Just fine. Happy and healthy. :D
Practicing drawing these guys. Krel's Akiridion form hair is probably the thing that had me struggling the most. Close ups and a small rant under the cut.
Tell you what, the movie that doesn't exist did a lot of things wrong but at least it rounded out Aja's character by letting her bring in ships to evacuate the Earth with, even if no one else agreed with her. It was a nice way to show how she'd evolved from the Princess who didn't want to be one in the first episode of 3Below to a responsible Queen who would make calls that even her parents wouldn't during their reign (see the Voltarians).
I mean, the Steve incident definitely drags a lot of attention away from that but, you know, there's one thing that they gave the Akiridions at least and I'll keep clinging to the positives even as the negatives loom ominously over my shoulder while I pretend they never happened for my own sake of mind.
