“We’re all a little weird. And life is a little weird. And when we find someone whose weirdness is compatible with ours, we join up with them and fall into mutually satisfying weirdness—and call it love—true love.”
— Unknown
When dogs make eye contact with you and start wagging their tail, then you start talking to them and they wag it harder
Reblog if u agree
writing is hard because sometimes you want to write a sentence that is pleasant and rhythmic and compelling to read and sometimes you just want to get the characters across a damn room
what people think is hard about writing: describing the joy, love, beauty, grief, loss and hope that form the richness of human experience
what is actually hard about writing: describing basic actions such as turning, leaning over, reclining, gesturing, saying something in a quiet voice, breathing, getting up from chairs, and walking across rooms
no thoughts, just 200 half-finished drafts living rent-free in my brain
“omg you’re so creative. how do you get your ideas” i hallucinate a single scene in the taco bell drive thru and then spend 13 months trying to write it
writing? oh, i’m definitely writing. in my head. during the most inconvenient times. like in the shower or when i’m about to fall asleep. actual typing? no, no, we don’t do that here.
“just start writing” they say, as if i don’t first need to reread my worldbuilding notes, tweak the map i made three years ago, and research medieval shoe-making techniques for a scene that won’t even make it into the book.
one thing about me is when i read or watch something and there's an evil child or some sort of monster who was born a monster i'm always going to side with the monster. sorry about your loser parents i would have loved you. skill issue
When you love a specific character but only get one season and maybe 4 fanfics written about them.
“I went away in my head, into a book. That was where I went whenever real life was too hard or too inflexible.”
— Neil Gaiman, The Ocean at the End of the Lane
“I think gentleness is one of the most disarmingly and captivatingly attractive qualities there are.”
— Nayyirah Waheed (via thelovejournals)
“It’s funny the air is damp, the clouds are grey, the night is dark, the wind is ripe…yet it still hasn’t begun to rain….Perhaps nature too has a terrible habit of holding its tears in.”
“I myself am made entirely of flaws, stitched together with good intentions.”
— Augusten Burroughs, Magical Thinking: True Stories
“Perhaps some day I’ll crawl back home, beaten, defeated. But not as long as I can make stories out of my heartbreak, beauty out of sorrow.”
— Sylvia Plath, The Unabridged Journals of Sylvia Plath
what are poets, if not a concoction of great madness and inexplicable loneliness?
