In Galati, Romania, a russian UAV attacked an apartment building

The apartment burned down, two people (a woman and a 14-year-old boy) were hospitalized, and approximately 70 people were evacuated.

This is not the first time russian UAVs have crossed the Romanian border. However, until now, they have crashed in uninhabited areas.

The Romanian Ministry of National Defense stated that russian strikes last night targeted civilian and infrastructure targets in Ukraine, near the river border with Romania. The drone, which penetrated the country, was tracked by radar systems to the Galati municipality area, according to them. Two Romanian F-16 fighter jets and an IAR 330 SOCAT helicopter from the Romanian Air Force, which took off from Fetești Air Base, were cleared to engage the targets throughout the operation.

In the last years, I have been one of the people very vocal about Romania's NEED to support both Ukraine and Moldova in their fight with Russia, because humanity should always come before money or other resources but also because it's been such a long time that people ignored the abuses of Russia.

Last night, two people were injured. A 52 years old woman and her 14 years old son are in the hospital right now.

Thankfully, the medics could operate fast enough and their lives are not in danger.

However, watching this video, I can't help but wonder if this wasn't only a happy accident?

This is not the first time Russian drones have entered Romania airspace. It's been happening frequently, especially since the abusive and illegal invasion of Ukraine.

Every single time, I have seen both Romanian and international scene brush it off as "an accident" — is it still an accident when a minor is hospitalized for 2nd degree burns?

My heart stays with Ukrainians who I respect deeply for their resilience and the way they handle these outrageous circumstances but as a Romanian, what happened last night is just a confirmation that we have failed them.

(And how every neighbour of Russia will probably be failed when they decide to follow their plans.)

I don't know about you, but when I heavily disagree with someone about something as trite as the artificiality behind an actor's personal brand, the last thing on my mind is using slurs and ableist language with other people. Every single person who has anons on and ever used their accounts in any anti-shipper context receives daily messages including not only slurs, ableist language, insults, curses, but actual THREATS.
