Silent Night (Modern AU drabble)
Word count: 227 (it’s a little drabble? I guess)
Summary: Ivar falls asleep while the reader sings Silent Night.
Warnings: just short cuteness, I guess;
A/N: So, I’ve been watching a lot of Christmas movies and listening to Kelly Clarkson’ Christmas album, and this happened. It’s really short but I guess I liked it enough to post it… I’m sorry, I know it’s early november lol
(why is this show so hard to do the coloring??? I’m not satisfied with this gif)
As he watched you sing Silent Night, Ivar thought how falling asleep to a Christmas song never crossed his mind.
It was ridiculous. He never took the time to listen to any, seeing as his family didn’t celebrate the christian holiday. He was used to hearing them in the speakers of stores and supermarkets, where you could barely make out the words. Listening now, he realized how deeply religious they were.
Lyrics aside, the song was calm enough. So calm that its melody, along with your nails softly scratching his scalp, lead him to be half asleep, lying in front of the fire.
As soon as the song was finished, you glanced over to see Ivar looking at you, trying to keep his eyes open. You felt a grin stretch your lips, his sleepy face made your heart swell in your chest.
You reached to grab a blanket from the couch and drapped it over you two. Ivar nestled into your chest and said something you weren’t able to understand.
“I said that is a terrible song,” he mumbled.
“Oh, I can see how much you hated it.” You giggled and squeezed him tighter.
The heat of the fireplace and the sound of Ivar’s breath in your ear soon led you to relax your body against his and quickly drift off to sleep.
