I suppose it’s time.

No one has sent in any head admin requests and the blog has been entirely dead since I stopped doing things for the blog, so I suppose there’s only one thing left to do.

This blog will be shutting down on September 7th, exactly two weeks from now. Submissions and asks to the blog will no longer be submitted and I will no longer be on the blog, but the blog will still be up and the basedolls I posted still there, as an archive of sorts for those who enjoyed the blog. 

I’m doing this because as I mentioned before, I’m not comfortable running this blog anymore, and also because every admin I’ve tried to add has failed to get back to me on the e-mail request- that, or something else got in the way and prevented them from joining the blog.

I am still active on windian-dolllove, where my critiques, advice, and good basedoll appreciation will continue, and mod apps may open, but this blog is no more. There will be a two-week grace period for more submissions, and I’ll probably have a fan-voted theme day for the final day of the blog. 

It’s been a good run, guys. Sayonara. Keep basedollin’ and have fun.

Hey.

I don’t feel comfortable running this blog anymore. It makes me feel extremely guilty. It’s gotten me a lot of hate, I don’t do anything for it, and I feel like it’d help my overall emotional state if I left it behind. It’s still fun to laugh at bad basedolls, yes, but to be honest, I think I’d rather be doing critiques and praising improvement and good basedolls than laughing at bad ones at this point. 

So, for any of y’all who were considering joining the blog, I’m now accepting primary admin applications. 

You will be the effective “head honcho” of the blog in my place, telling new admins if they’re doing anything wrong, performing critiques, finding stuff to post, stuff like that. What I’m looking for in a head admin is a good basedoller with kind of low standards that won’t be too mean to those that show up on the blog, and are willing to provide critique! The only thing I request you don’t do is change the Important page, the tags, unless you make a new tag, or the overall snarky, but not cruel tone of the blog. (Current mods on the blog are allowed to apply for head-admin, by the way!)

You should make an introduction post when you’re recruited, so everyone knows you’re here and I’m gone.

I’ll be making a new blog for basedoll improvement, good basedolls, and basedoll critiques soon- I’ll link it in this post when the blog is up. (edit: It’s up! You can follow it over at windian-dolllove!) Those of you who wanted to apply for this blog can apply to that one, too.

I won’t drop out of the blog until I find a new head admin. In the meantime, send in those apps! I won’t be doing anything more for the blog, and will drop out silently when the new admin is recruited, so I guess this is goodbye. Sayonara, my bad-basedoll-loving friends! I noticed both of your submissions were from the same person. Don’t do that. Use a widespread range of basedolls from different people. If you want to use multiple images from one person, just do a gallery feature.

This is a recent basedoll of mine and I’d like to know how I could improve? You guys seem to know a lot about basedolling so I thought this would be a good place to ask.

My method for shading eyes on pixel bases is very simple but effective, and it goes something like this.

After deciding the eyes’ base color, add the upper shade. This is a darker shade of your base color.

Once that’s done, add the lower shine. This is a lighter shade of your base color and is a crescent at the bottom of the eye. It does not touch the bottom of the eye, though!

And, lastly, add some shines so the eye doesn’t look dull. These are white, of course, and there’s a larger one in the top corner and a smaller one in the bottom corner.

And that’s the finished product! Looks nice and shiny, huh?
