Listen carefully. Everyone make mistakes. But if you committed a sin, you have to make an atonement for that sin. Atonement, do you know what that means? Big atonement for big sins. Small atonement for small sins.
Sympathy for Lady Vengeance (2005) dir. Chan-wook Park
Big Warning
If you see a police car or a cop with a speaker looking thing on it, FUCKING RUN. It's known as an LRAD (Long Range Acoustic Device), a device that, when activated, can permanently damage your hearing and cause serious harm. If you're too close, you'll be left in a lot of pain and squirming on the ground permanently deaf. Ear plugs do not work. Unless you have one of those shooting range headphones, you do not stand a chance against them. Again, if you see them pull up, RUN. This is what they look like.
Stay safe.
BACURAU (2019) dir. Kleber Mendonça Filho, Juliano Dornelles
as the dash moves back to normal, please don’t let this be the end of your activism. this wasn’t just a trend, these are real lives. continue to further your understanding, get educated, listen to black people, and be an active ally.
we can and will pressure idols to donate. i don’t give a shit. a lot of ahgases didn’t do shit until mark donated. we have fansites ready to drop hundreds for these idols if they ask. i don’t get why people are so mad at us for pressuring rich people to donate a few thousands. if your kpop boy can affford a rolex he can afford to make a donation. trying to turn things around by accusing us of not doing anything is absolutely ridiculous to me. making teenagers, college students, people who earn minimum wage, unemployed people, etc feel bad bc they told their rich faves to open their purses? we’re signing petitions. we’re spreading the word. some of us are dropping our last fucking pennies. why can’t a rich idol do the same? stop acting like we’re in the wrong. you guys were saying “eat the rich” two weeks ago but i guess asking idols to set the example is where you draw the line.
one of the worst things abt social media is that it's used as a substitute for activism rather than a tool
so direct action is not an option available to you. what can you do right now instead?
Be mindful of the content you’re putting on your social media accounts. Stop retweeting/reposting violent images and videos of black people dying. Know that content like this, even with trigger warnings included, can be very emotionally disturbing/distressing and yes, even traumatic, for black people navigating the internet right now.
Report any images and videos you see where protestors’ faces are visible/unblurred, particularly in content surrounding the lootings. Don’t retweet or repost these images and videos. This can be a death sentence.
DONATE, PARTICULARLY TO MINNESOTA-BASED BLACK YOUTH MOVEMENTS / MUTUAL AID FUNDS WHO ARE DOING WORK ON THE GROUND. FOLLOW/BOOST IF YOU CAN’T.
• The Minnesota Freedom Fund, a mutual aid group fighting back against the unjust MN bail system, is taking donations. (Twitter)
• The Black Visions Collective, a Minnesota-based freedom fighter organization creating campaigns for justice, is taking donations. (Twitter)
• Reclaim the Block, a coalition to demand that Minneapolis divest from policing, is taking donations. (Twitter)
• Crowdfunding for black trans people in need thread.
• Comprehensive Minnesota bail fund/support document for May and June.
