"Sleep is like a cat. It only comes to you if you ignore it."
- Gone Girl
Bear was surveying his kingdom today. I've been trying to shake off tiredness for the past couple of days. I haven't slept well for about 8 months or so now, but some days I just feel really sluggish and useless. I redrafted some scripts today so I at least did something productive I guess. Some days I just feel like I'm doing nothing with my life, which I know is silly, but it's just my way of thinking sometimes as a person that is very much a do-er.
I'm super happy with the focus on this photo because the wire between Bear and I is hardly visible so giving myself a little pat on the back for that one. It's the small things, right?

"A man who walks between worlds. They were sent from hell to oversee our world."
- Hector, Westworld
This is taken in the carpark of my work. Through the iron fence you can see the loading bay/door of the building next to ours. I have no idea what this building and its bay is a part of, but I like the mystery surrounding it, as trivial as it might sound. There's something that just seems perversely wrong with the door to me, and I've no idea why.
For reference I'm drawn to a scene in Westworld where Maeve discovers all of her past sketches of tech team, or as they call them "The Shades". I know there's no actual person in the photo, but the door makes me feel like I'm surveying something I shouldn't be looking at. Do you ever have these types of feelings, in certain locations?
I was meant to post this yesterday but I got caught up at work so oh well. I was also in a rush when I took this photo, but I should have really cleared the frame a bit more and put a harder focus on the 15 in the BG. My zoom lens probably would have helped here. But oh well! Learning stuff like this is whole point of this exercise, right?

"Every life is a pile of good things and bad things. The good things don't always soften the bad things, but vice versa the bad things don't always spoil the good things or make them unimportant."
- 11th Doctor
Once again, nothing particularly exciting, but here we are. I was a massive Doctor Who fan when I was younger. I still am, don't get me wrong, but man I miss the unadulterated joy that the show and its universe gave me. I started watching the show in 2005 when it was rebooted. I was only 8, and I loved it. I became obsessed with reading all the novelisations of the old episodes, I'd spend hours and hours reading them, escaping to another era. Keep in mind, a lot of the old episodes weren't on DVD then, and little 8YO me definitely couldn't afford the ones that were.
I do worry about the children I sometimes think I want to have. I spent so much of my time in second hand book shops finding these books and lovingly reading them, but you just can't find that amount of book shops anymore. That amount of second hand books. I hope I can pass along my love of reading to them. If I do end up having children. Which is a big if.
So while I've ditched a lot of stuff in my cleanout of my room, I have kept all of these Doctor Who books and safely stashed them in an old army chest I found on Facebook marketplace for $30 that my dad and I refurbished. It now weighs about 45kg or so, so I wish the removalists luck getting it down the stairs.
Once again, this photo isn't particularly special, but I haven't been doing anything particularly noteworthy the past few days. I should also note I'm trying to not edit or filter any of my photos, but we'll see how long that lasts, hey.

"I listened to the universe. I felt something. I'm sad."
"That is so much better than dead"
- Temperance Brennan and Seeley Booth (Bones 6x09)
So I didn't really do anything that interesting yesterday so I didn't bother posting it. This photo is bland, and is basically the ruins of a wall after I've taken off the small mirrors that were covering the wall held on with adhesive.
Packing up my room is very very strange. Once my sister moved out about 5 years ago I moved into her old room, but that was relocating my stuff from one end of the house to the other, this time it's for real. I've already gotten rid of a lot of stuff, but I've unearthed some great things.
There's some great metaphor in here about the damage we cause and the scars we leave each other to be taken from this photo, but I'm damned if I can hobble the metaphor together at this point. This entire period of my life I'd describe as melancholic nostalgia.
Technically this photo isn't even very good, but it's the only shot I have from yesterday. Also the light in my wardrobe is absolutely rubbish, so I'll try and lay a little bit of blame on that.

"Your scientists were so preoccupied with whether they could, they didn't stop to think if they should."
- Dr Ian Malcolm (Jurassic Park)
Front steps counts as outside, right? We have a colony of water dragons that live on the property. There's about 10 or so of them I think. They've been around for about 6 or 7 years now and every year there's more. There's a bit of a turf war going on at the moment between Big Boy™️ (the original) and Alan (pictured). Two other younger boys are around but neither is really a match for the first two. You can tell the boys from the girls by looking at the plumage on the chest - the boys have this bright red on them to attract the girls.
I wrote 3 episodes of a web series today so I actually felt like I accomplished something. I also made biscuits and a korma curry. But today was kind of tough. But that's okay.
Alan kept moving so this photo was bloody difficult to take. It's nothing special, I'll try out my zoom lens on them soon to see if I can get some finer detail without getting closer lol. There's something quite prehistoric about these lizards, especially in the shape of their head and their claws. Look at those talons.

"Oh bless you, but no I'm from London; I don't do local politics."
- Yvonne Hartman
Okay, so I lied. Worked again today and it's hot as hellfire outside so there's no way I'm leaving the house. This is one of my other cats, Honey. Like most tortoiseshell cats, Honey is a little bit crazy. She runs up and down the hall for seemingly no reason and does this fun thing where she tries to stop but skids instead - it's very sweet.
Honey is also very talkative, she squawks like a parrot and when I'm lying in bed, she'll do it every time I move a muscle. Sweet, but brutal when you're trying to get some shut-eye.
Also please pay little mind to the desk in the background as it's messy as anything, and I'd rather not give you the impression I'm a messy person. I am mostly on top of things, but any personal space I have: work station, bedroom, even a computer desktop - I cannot keep clean. Maybe I've got more important things to focus on. Or maybe I'm deluding myself away from my laziness when it comes to stuff like this.
I've started listening to a series of Torchwood radio dramas today during my commute. I drive about an hour and 20 minutes each way and audiobooks are generally the only things that get me through. These ones are really good though, they brought back my all-time favourite guest character and have given her her own series which is pretty excellent.
Pinky swear I'll take my camera outside tomorrow. I'm liking the photos I've taken so far, I think mostly the first month or two will be me finding my feet with it - so enjoy these posts.

"I love my grudges. I tend to them like little pets"
- Madeline Martha Mackenzie
I promise I'll try and leave the house to take some photos tomorrow. This lightbox has a quote from Big Little Lies - the book not the series. Madeline Martha Mackenzie is extra as fuck and everything I aspire to be. Oh Calamity is her catchphrase for when shits going wrong, but it didn't get used in the series. I can't really imagine Reese Witherspoon saying it, can you?
Anyway, I put that phrase in when I first got the sign and I always had the intention of changing it every now and then, but like a lot of things in life I just forgot and it's been on that phrase for well over a year now.
I worked today and then had lunch at my aunt and uncle's and didn't bring my camera so I was really struggling to get a post for today (this one is literally taken in my bed) - finding content every day is hard! But I am determined to try and do it. It hasn't even been a week yet, so we'll see how I go. I also really love the titled 'I' in this picture, which is a result of a not so quality product but I'll pass it off as an artistic choice.

"These Violent Delights Have Violent Ends"
- Romeo and Juliet (Act 2, Scene 6)
This is Bear! He was a foster fail that came to the family when he was just 4 weeks old! A lot of the time I feel like Bear lives the life of rather be living. Sleeps a lot, gets to bite people with little consequences, and doesn't have to stress about job interviews.
What I had today wasn't necessarily a job interview, it was a meeting with two people from a production company that are going to keep me on file for future production work and writers rooms, which is cool, but nothing immediate.
I also finished the second season of Westworld last night which was pretty cool, I really respect the amount of ambition and world building that goes into their storytelling, even if not everything pays off.
On another note, I'm making my mum watch all of Game of Thrones with me from the start because she's never seen it, so I'm excited to gauge her reaction to it.
Technically with these photos I'm still just messing around and seeing what looks good. The focus in the second photo could be better, but I do like Bear's attitude in it.

"A dog has no use for fancy cars, big homes, or designer clothes. A water logged stick will do just fine. A dog doesn't care if you're rich or poor, clever or dull, smart or dumb. Give her your heart and she'll give you hers. How many people can you say that about? How many people can make you feel rare and pure and special? How many people can make you feel extraordinary?"
