when i was a kid my parents bought me an inflatable doll of the Scream by Edvard Munch (??) that was significantly taller than i was at the time and i used to slow-dance with it and pretend it was my boyfriend. if you listen to your friends and your friends listen to you, that is a friendship worth fostering. asking questions and listening is also a great way to make friends in the first place!

sometimes you are just going after the wrong people, or you're not in the right environment. I've made some of my closest friends at events and clubs!

always awesome to ask your current friends to invite THEIR friends to hangouts. the people your friends like are probably people you will like too! this can also help you form friend groups these are very powerful. like a biodiverse ecosystem or food web!

kindness is the most powerful trait to have when making friends. if you make a conscious effort to be kind to others, you will attract people who value kindness.

keep your wellbeing in mind! if the people you are friends with do not listen to you, say hurtful things about you or others, or make you feel worse when you hang out, they are probably not going to be good for you in the long run. these people do deserve friends, but it doesn't have to be you. don't hurt yourself in the name of friendship.

you can give people gifts! it doesn't have to be a special occasion! I often find funny trinkets at op shops that my friends would love. friendship can be reciprocal without being transactional [: sometimes my friends sneakily pay for my treats before I can get my card out and the indignant delight I feel is an emotion second to none. peace and love

treat potential friends like they're already your friend. don't overstep boundaries, but the way people's faces light up when I treat them like a good friend after only knowing them a little while is wonderful. it's like digging the channel for a beautiful flourishing river!
