I wish the Western animation fandom wasn’t filled with obnoxious man and women children, who as far as I see are shit at critiquing things, and are obnoxiously nitpicky and have impossibly high standards. Something can have as much heart and genuine effort put into it as humanly possible, but oh no, if it slips up even once, whether it’s writing, story, or animation, it’s immediately crap! It seems like the concept of sitting down and just enjoying something regardless of some possible flaws is, or just admitting that something just isn’t for you despite being alright on a technical level, is beyond these people. Hell, most of the shit they bitch about, like supposed plotholes or inconsistencies, either haven’t been explained yet in a current running series and they just need to be patient, or it’s actually pretty easy to come to a conclusion on your own or it’s actually already been explained or foreshadow but they missed it because they didn’t sit down and just pay attention!

Also, allot of fans of just animation in general also seem to think that just because they know how the general process of producing animation works, they think they know how the animation industry works and what the average animator and show staff in it tend to deal with. They seem to forget, or completely ignore, how things like making deadlines, working with budgets, being overworked and underpaid in general especially if working in an overseas studio, executives meddling in on the creative process and anywhere else during production, staff having potentially creative differences, a troubled production in general, and many other possible variables can affect how the finale product comes out, unlike if it were some people doing it on their own time and had all the time in the world to produce something up to their standards!

It seems there’s people on one extreme who use the whole, “But it’s just for kids, stop taking it too seriously!”, and then there’s just what I ranted about on the other extreme end. Whyyyy is the concept of nuance appear to be so foreign to allot of Western animation fans?

Tl;dr: Allot of Western animation fans, and pretty much every cartoon reviewer, are shit at critiquing, and maybe there’s a damn good reason why they can never manage to land a job in animation. They’re obnoxious perfectionists and even elitists at times, who think they know better, when in reality no one would ever want to work with them in an actual professional setting!
