Seriously where the fuck are all these liberals on here who are pearl clutching about revolution getting the phrase “glorious revolution” from???? They all use it, they never use a synonym or anything, it’s always the word “glorious”. The Glorious Revolution was a coup in 17th century England that hasn’t even a revolution and didn’t have anything to do with communism, and it’s clear that none of the people using this phrase on tumblr have even heard of that. So just. Who started using that phrase to refer to communist revolutions? They’re literally all using it, so it had to come from somewhere

i have to suspect it has something to do with the "glorious leader" anglo way of describing communist leaders (usually from east asia)

Like, this is 100% it. This is exactly the kind of thing that the type of liberal I’m talking about would draw their politics from. I’m surprised it didn’t catch my ear when I rewatched that episode back in December tbh. It’s a speech that’s written incredibly well in a rhetorical sense but is just centrist tripe on a material level because it fails to grapple with the inherent violence of the status quo. And I’d be willing to bet that a good deal of the fandom liberals on tumblr who saw it think it’s canny and incisive politics
