Submission guidelines 👽 Before sending in a photo, please read!

-To submit an image for consideration for our daily cryptid photo posts, you may DM us or send your image through our ask or submission boxes, or email your image to [email protected]. Include how you would like to be credited (name and/or Tumblr/Instagram/Twitter handles) or if you would prefer to remain anonymous. If not elsewise specified, we will default to your Tumblr username for any photos submitted through Tumblr. If you have a suggested title for your submission, feel free to include that as well, otherwise we will come up with our own.

-Understand that all daily cryptid images we post will be shared here on Tumblr as well as on our other connected social media accounts, which can be found here!

-Original content is greatly preferred for daily cryptid submissions. With very rare exceptions (say a weird ad or a product listing you saw and screenshotted), if it's just something you found online, we probably won't post it!

-If you see a post that reminds you of us that you think we'd like to reblog, either tag us @lesserknowncryptids or send it to us via DM.

-We do not accept AI generated images, either for daily cryptid posts or to add to our reblog queue. If an image we post is later discovered to be AI generated we will remove it, and if you submitted it it's going to make us less likely to accept submissions from you in the future!

-Submitting an image is not a guarantee that it will be posted. If it has been a long time since your submission and it hasn't been posted yet, please do not submit it again! We may have decided against sharing it for any number of reasons; also understand that our posts are scheduled via queue, and it may take a while for yours to come up if it was accepted. Feel free to continue to send in more submissions, however!

-If an image you own was posted by us and at any point you would like it removed, simply send us a link to the post in question and we will happily take it down.

I wonder if we'll ever see a movie monster as artistically fresh as the xenomorph was. Even decades later, every other pop cultire monster still feels derivative of earthly biology, with a natural looking exoskeleton or meaty flesh.

Giger's biomechanical aesthetic managed to make even this humanoid entity look completely foreign to our world. It always looked to me like a midway point between a corpse and a motorcycle. And you definitely get the impression that it's only human shaped because it gestated in a human host.

Any square you could cut from the whole design could still be identified as part of The Alien or at least Giger's work. The same size square from most other monsters is more likely to be a meaningless patch of elephantlike skin or raw meat. Surely there are other unique styles out there though???

The Bone God is a dead god whose bones were brought to a foreign planet by a dog that's a moon. The Bone God has anxiety. The Bone God ate its own sibling to save its entire world. The Bone God uses it/its pronouns, the sexiest pronouns. The Bone God is huge and bestial and terrifying. The Bone God is soft and nervous and kind. The Bone God is dating a guy who's basically Trans Steve Irwin and pulled him with its autism rizz. The Bone God is just a little guy, if a little guy could climb on the ceiling and had a halo of fire. The Bone God is learning what it means to be a god in a modern world when its old obligations are no longer who it is.
