One of my frustrations with Dreamer this season is, we just simply haven’t seen much of her. I know, the person whose name is on the title card is “Supergirl” so she should be the focus more often than not, but Dreamer has become such a big part of the show, it just feels like they have woefully underutilised her this season so far. Nia and Nicole both.
Until the most recent episode, Nia hasn’t gotten suited up since the season premiere, and she was very much off to the side during that. You can feel they’re just sticking her in the episodes to do some exposition or do some research, and not doing much else.
I’m sure a BIG part of this lies in saving money, time, and logistics for the crossover. They’re dumping all their resources into that, rightly so, and I am more than happy to bide my time.
At the very least, I hope we get back to exploring Nia and Maeve’s rift, either just as sisters, or upping Maeve to some superpowers of her own to be a threat. It’s a dangling plotline that can easily be picked up, dealing both with the super powered thing, and with Nia’s identity, bringing us back to some of the social commentary they did so wonderfully last season.
Also, when we HAVE seen Nia in action this season, she has been VERY confident. The adoring crowd, and taking down an entire TIDAL WAVE is making her visible cocky, and I kinda hope this is going towards her having a bit of a fall from all this pride. (I love Nia, I don’t want to see her hurt, but it’s a natural story progression to have someone’s hubris come back at them.)
I am just ITCHING for some quality Nia centric stories this season, and hope there’s some good stuff coming after Crisis.
