came across this gem today LMAO
My toxic fandom take is that I think that it's awful how much we can talk to creators and get answers from them word of god style. We should be out here in a godless place rooting for scraps of lore in the media like truffle pigs out in the fields
Something I kind of dislike about the """girl Jax design""" is that it positions Jax as having more choice over her appearance than the rest of the cast. Jax CHOSE that hair, Jax CHOSE that bow, Jax CHOSE that outfit, but the rest of the cast are still stuck in a body that is not their own, they cannot make choices (afaik) to change themselves. Only Jax can. It once again is telling me that the show views Jax having more autonomy over herself as a net positive, but for the rest of the cast it is not. Considering there's another member of the cast who is also gender queer and stuck in a body they dislike (Zooble) but they are forced to essentially Suck It Up and Learn To Love Themself etc etc. It's unfair and cruel.
Ohh my god. (Sorry the image is ginormous…)
“I always forget that you (Michael) say that you actually don’t do that much improv, which is crazy to me because like half of my lines are improv.” -Amanda
Sooo you’re telling me that goose fucking did the bare minimum while writing Ragatha, and that the VOICE ACTOR, not THE WRITER OF THE SHOW, actually adds on to the blank slate that is a character???? Amanda said it themselves, (after what I put in quotes above) and I’m paraphrasing here, that they did what was written in the script, and was like “hey she could use a little extra” FOR ALMOST HALF OF THE LINES IN THE FINAL SHOW. Tell me you don’t know how to write*, without telling me you don’t know how to write*.
*a character (in this case, but at the same time, goose can’t write cohesively for shit 💀)
I posted this on my other social medias so why not post it here
kinger really never got to meet his kids and the show expects us to believe he wouldn’t have a mental breakdown on the spot.
Like, he wasn’t there for the birth, wasn’t there for any birthdays, and will never get to experience any of that.
Like I don’t even want kids and that kind of reveal would put me down faster than anything Jax could do.
That’s insane. You can not convince me that he’d be cool with that!
When Ribbit opens up to Jax and tells her about their Mormon parents, Jax doesn't react at all. She doesn't say "I'm sorry" or even "That sucks" or anything like that. Instead the scene plays out like this:
Girl, not everything is about you, have some empathy. And even if Jax did feel bad for Ribbit, we don't get to see her face so... we can just assume
You are not responsible for saving someone else. You are not responsible for bettering someone who’s hurt you. You are not responsible for a toxic ex-friend. You are not responsible for what they choose to do. You are not a bad person for cutting them off or refusing to have them in your life, even if they have bettered themselves. Prioritize yourself, not a harmful person.
"Jax doesn't get too much attention" my ASS
Guys don't worryyyyyyy, Gangle's 139 lines will be filled with lore about her :)
Hey, so quick reminder, abstraction IS suicide and it is not atonement or consequence for your bad behaviors. Fans who claim abstraction is Jax’s punishment, as well as the show having that be the conclusion of the character, don’t realize that committing suicide being the only way out in a series about mental illness is really bad actually. What happened to “finding a meaning in a stagnant life” when one of your main characters kills themselves instead of facing accountability and attempting to grow? What if Bojack Horseman ended with him killing himself?
We are alluded to the idea in episode 8 that Jax is finally accepting that everything does matter and is at least attempting to be better. So, to spend so much time with this character just to kill them offscreen 7 minutes into the final episode is just tonal whiplash too. Jax could have still abstracted in the end (just executed better), but don’t tell me abstraction is punishment. Suicide is fatal self-harm, not a consequence. Never say this again. Especially to people who are suicidal. Suicide/suicide ideation is a serious matter, not a punishment for someone.
How it feels to delete what I think is an extremely hot take, just to find someone else made an identical post and a bunch of people agreed
We're doing everythinggggggggg BUT putting things in the show, omggggggg "They've been talking for hours 😍" ABOUT WHAT???
"losing a friend," name a moment representing her friendship with him one where she isn't just orbiting around him.
Hey, so I do think it’s very fucked up to explicitly state multiple times no ships are canon, characters have no canon sexualities, and that there is no romance in your series, only to double down against those claims (whether that be implied or canon).
Not only did you blatantly lie to your fanbase but you actively know this will cause more toxicity between fans and you did it anyways, especially years in. Confirming things like these are perfectly fine don’t get me wrong. But there is a difference between confirming things and lying multiple times for years knowing people are going to be dickheads about what you said you “didn’t intend”/weren’t interested in. It’s irresponsible and deceptive. Just a hunch. I’m pissed off.
Honestly, I think it’s very shitty for Goose to go “Oh, no ships are canon! They don’t have canon sexualities or see each other in that way. I’m not into romance anyways and I don’t want any fights” only to retract on those statements by making certain ships canon/semi-canon. Look, confirming these things on their own is fine, if you’re honest about it right away. The fact she decided to do this at the end on asks despite reminding her audience over and over again nothing of the sort would be canon is not only dishonest as hell, but she knows this will cause discourse between fans and would hurt the fans she had for years for believing those promises of “just having fun”.
