TAGGING → Santana Lopez and Finn Hudson.
TIME FRAME → Monday evening, 7th July.
LOCATION → The Lopez home.
GENERAL NOTES → Aw how cute, they’re having dinner and she’s going to hate every second of it~
At Santana’s lame attempt to explain her relationship with Puck, Finn opened his mouth to protest that there was plenty of hurt going around because of their “relationship,” but he quickly stopped himself as Santana continued to talk and began down-talking herself. “You’re not a mess,” he was quick to reassure. “You’re beautiful and smart and funny and I don’t think you’re incapable of caring about people.” Santana’s bad reputation preceded her. She was rude, insensitive, and proclaimed herself to be a “bitch” rather proudly. But Finn had been in love with her for over three years and while they weren’t close, he felt like he knew Santana better than most.
He’d spent so much time watching her in between classes, during classes, at the Max, wherever and whenever over the last three years. And over the last three years, he’d seen the mask fall a handful of times when Santana likely thought no one was looking. Deep down, Finn knew that Santana was just as caring and sensitive as any other girl. The fact that she bottled all of that up only served to make Finn want her more. It was weird, he knew, but after spending three years chasing, Finn couldn’t ignore the fact that some part of him enjoyed the chase. And the fact that Santana didn’t share all of herself with everyone only made him want to be the person she shared everything with. “Even if you were incapable of caring…it’s only because you’ve never let someone care for you and show you how.”
Finn glanced away from Santana to the TV and took another sip of his soda. ”And you are negative. Or whatever “real” you’re trying to keep is negative. I mean, I get it. But I’ve been reading about the Law of Attraction. It’s total hippy dippy pseudoscience, but a lot of people seem to believe in it. Basically if you think positive things, then positive things happen and if you think negatively, then negative things happen. Maybe you should try to expect the best in people for a while and see if it works.” Finn’s couldn’t help but be a little disappointed as Santana brought up Brittany. “Yeah, I don’t think Brittany feels that way about me, anyway. You know…since you can’t think of anyone right for me, I think I’ll go with my original plan and just settle for whoever wants me. I don’t want to get to college without ever having had a girlfriend.”
Composing herself, Santana gave Finn a soft half smile. Probably the first look that wasn't scathing that she'd ever given him. It was stupid, that she had built such high walls around herself and her heart, but it had worked for her, for so many years that it seemed stupid to stop now. He was right, she'd never given anyone the chance to love her, or hold her.
"I just meant that she's the type of person who is good enough to be with you. Not her in particular." Santana reasoned, as his face fell at the mention of her best friend. It was over-bearingly obvious that he had wanted her to say that she was right for him. "Why do you care so much about having a girlfriend? Especially now, when you'll be jetting off to college next year, on the other side of the country. Why not just keep it casual? Have a friend with benefits or something." The suggestion left her mouth before she even had the time to stop it. It was bad enough that he was sick and tired of her games and was attempting to date Quinn, yet now she was trying to encourage him to sleep with someone else. Or was she?
"You know," She began, as she turned her full body towards him, tucking her legs underneath her. Finn's inability to recognise personal space made closing the gap between them, that much easier. "You said that you wanted to be popular and that you wanted me to help you there, losing the big V is the first step into Bayside royalty."
