whose definition of "graphic violence and torture" ? do we think maybe those conceptual boundaries depend on factors like the speaker's prior ideological commitments? have we ever read a censorship policy?
at what age does a child cross from innocent pre-exposed object to sullied brain adult? what is the normal age to experience or witness violence? where does that leave those who experience and witness violence at younger ages? who may never have lived a 'violence-free' existence?
do we actually think that children are ontologically incapable of being interested in violence, or are we merely so threatened by the idea they could be that we refuse to even speak the possibility?
is it the worst thing in the world to pick up a book and then decide its subject matter is unappealing, frightening, or overwhelming? is that such a foreign fucking concept? did anything scary ever happen to you as an 8 year old? did it have an instant off-switch as effective as 'close the cover and pick up something else'?
what kind of violence? is all violence the same? do all depictions of violence have the same literary merit, political meaning, or emotional effect?

Kind of new to tumblr and seeing some of your posts and your answers to asks, i feel like your thought on this could kind of help. This may be a bit long since i wanna check for any biases i may have, so i'm very sorry about that, and feel free to delete if your not comfortable.
I'm a trans guy, and a bit new to tumblr. I found out i was trans near the same wave a few years back on the internet(all platforms i had), where trans women were just getting horrendously mistreated. And i knew since trans men didnt seem to get nesrly the same trestment, i can use my voice to help.
I came onto tumblr like, april? And it was like June was alot of trans topics began popping up. And seeing how trans women are getting treated, i do wanna be as informed.
I dont know if this some internalized hate or a weird thing of mine, but i am extremely divided with everything is being said.
Cuz its more than obvious, trans women and trans men, are gonna have different experiences, different experiences with transphobia, hate, violence, and their opression is gonna be different. And trans women take extreme hits way more often on the daily, and harsher oppression.
But also, i'm still in the closet, i'm not out to anyone, and i am viewed as a cis girl. People treat me as i am a girl, and i do see alot of people treating me like i'm just a "dumb girl who dosent know anything", and whats scaring me is seeing alot of arguments against trans men, beginning to sound like the same thing. Like it gets to a point i feel like some people think trans men just, dont know anything and are dumb little women or something.
And that makes it difficuilt trying to view posts with transmisogyny tags, cuz i just cant ignore my head just screaming "this person is talking very weirdly about us.". And i know alot of trans women here are older, experienced more so probably know better. But seeing some of the jokes on trans men being very similar on how alot of people talk about women, is a bit disheartning. And seeing how alot of people talk like masculinity is horrid, and its starting to make me wonder if being trans isnt just me having internalized misogyny.
Idk if i seem like a birthday boy or something, cuz i know trans women and just anyone that isnt identifying as a men most definitely are treated 10x worst, but am i biased for thinking alot of people are currently talking about trans men very weirdly on here?
(Fyi, this post was asked a bit ago, and is not part of the 100 followers thing)
It’s hard yeah, seeing your community get bashed. But, you gotta remember that said bashing is almost 99% of the time in retaliation to what trans men say on here. You’ve seen it on my blog, and most likely, many others. TERF socialization and transmisogynistic rhetoric is rampant in our spaces- how do you think trans women feel when seeing a lot of that shit go unchallenged and have thousands of likes?
One big piece of advice I have- do not take it personally. I learned this all the way back when I had just turned twelve (and finally got a phone), during when the blm protests had just started, and I started seeing an influx of anti-racist rhetoric and criticism of white people as a whole
Now, little 12 year old me, having never heard of any this stuff, took it a lil personally (which, learning about this stuff at twelve is a privilege because I had never been forced to come to terms about being white, compared to black children who are forced to learn what it means to be black in a white supremacist country at a much younger age). This kind of ‘coming to terms’ can really be applied to any situation where you are privileged over someone else.
I personally don’t think you’re a birthday boy (although, i obviously don’t know, nor can I access, what you may have posted), you’re just being presented with behaviors and ideas that challenge your biases, and you’ve got to work through it.
And youve got to remember- this is a social media platform where people go to vent their frustrations and opinions. Trans women saying mean or generalizing statements about trans men legitimately are not something to get upset over, when you look over at what trans men say about them, and furthermore, how trans men will just gladly abandon them in favor of feeling like the most ‘oppressed’.
I’m kinda in the same boat as you- I currently am viewed as a cis woman (gonna get diy t soon trust), and it’s made me realize one thing when presenting as a trans man solely on the internet. We cannot keep putting the dynamics of the sex we’re forced to be onto sex we truly are. It just doesn’t work. They’re not treating you like a ‘dumb girl’, they’re treating you as a part of an uninformed, ignorant mass. Because that’s what it’s like on the internet. It’s far more easier to be mean to people you don’t personally know (it does depend on the person tho). They don’t know you, and you don’t know them.
What you both know, however, is that the trans man community has a serious problem in relationship to our privileges over trans women. You wouldn’t be asking the question like this if you didn’t believe that. It’s the main reason I focus so hard on us in my posts (knowledge from the inside ya know). I’m not trying to ‘reach across the isle’ however, I’m mainly trying to, one, give trans women some much needed hope when it come to trans men advocating for them, and two, to get guys like you to understand.
You and me only have experience with ‘cis’ misogyny, not transmisogyny, and it’s never an experience we’ll fully understand. And that’s not a bad thing- what is bad, is when we actively ignore those who do experience transmisogyny and practically leave them for dead simply because their real world experiences clash with the very, very cis feminist ideas of what oppression is.
I hope this helps you, and I wish you well.
do u ever think about corn sweat; and the fact that a large percent of corn grown in Illinois, iowa, etc is grown for ethanol and biofuel; and how solar power would be so many times more effective per acre than this; and how like 90+% of so many rare ecosystems in those states was drained for farm and suburbs (in many cases previously farms).
AND you could still have native plants around and even under the solar panels.
When you see what they did to the Midwest you'll want to fucking kill the corn lobbyists with your bare hands
