Once Continuing my Lineage is finished, I wanna write a few oneshot ideas
It's a completely normal day. No impending deadlines, no HR meetings, just a normal day.
Stone hands in his resignation.
At first, Robotnik is convinced it's a joke. Stone has worked for him for years now and has taken so much abuse from Robotnik, there's nothing that phases him anymore. Hell, Robotnik hadn't done anything other than call Stone an idiot that week.
So, why was his agent resigning?
Stone offers no explanation. In fact, when he hands over his letter of resignation, his eyes are downcast and wet. It's clear Stone doesn't want to resign either
Robotnik demands to know if someone is blackmailing Stone. He denies it. No, Walters didn't put him up to this. No, he isn't looking for a better job.
But Stone still won't give him a reason.
All he does is bite his lip and shake his head, refusing to explain why.
How could his loyal agent up and resign!? How dare he! So, of course, Robotnik rips up the letter in front of Stone and refuses to accept it.
Refuses to let Stone leave.
Stone just looks at him sadly, stating that he has to resign.
Robotnik puts him through hell. Yelling, throwing things, demanding more and more of Stone until he drops due to exhaustion. Maybe if he works Stone to death, he won't be able to resign.
He goes to Walters, wanting to know Stone's reason for leaving. Walters is as clueless as him
"It's his decision, Ivo. You can't keep him if he doesn't want to stay."
Stone is his agent! Only he is allowed to dictate if and when Stone leaves. Which is never!
He obsesses over this until Stone's final day. Who looks like death warmed over.
Stone's skin is pale, there's eyebags under his eyes, and he keeps gagging at certain smells in the lab.
Robotnik perks up. If Stone is leaving because of a health reason, then Robotnik could easily fix that problem.
Issue is, Stone still won't tell him.
Which leads Robotnik to have a few badniks hold Stone down so he can scan him over. Stone is frantic, begging Robotnik not to, but his pleas are ignored. Looking over his scans, Robotnik blinks.
"Yes," Stone's voice is small. "I can't work here and keep the baby. My job is too dangerous."
Nodding, Robotnik taps his fingers. "Who's the other parent?"
"A one nightstand. I informed him that if he even tried being in the baby's life, I'd skin him alive."
"No one of importance," Stone shook his head.
"We'll reduce your responsibilities and our field missions. I'll make sure GUN pays for all your medical expenses. You'll of course get as much maternity time as you want."
"It's not like it's my child," Robotnik snorts. "However, I will give you a raise if you name it after me."
Stone smiles for the first time since he handed Robotnik his letter of resignation.
Too bad for Robotnik, he never planned on becoming so attached to the fetus in Stone's belly. Nor does he know he will willingly have his own name put down as the child's other parent
