Wir Haben Ein Problem (Alessia Russo x Reader)
For the purpose of this, Alessia joined Arsenal after the Euros instead of the World Cup
Love at first sight was definitely the easiest way to describe how you felt about your girlfriend, Alessia Russo. You were too hyper focused on the fact that Alessia was flawless to recognise that the girl did in fact have flaws, despite her friends pointing them out to you multiple times.
Alessia was like this ray of sunshine that entered into your life unexpectedly and you’d been smitten right from the start. You had been like the glue that had held Alessia’s life together, consistently there to pick her up mentally and physically, due to her having a habit of falling over from time to time. You were a bit more stern and to the point than Alessia was, not laughing at every little thing, while Alessia constantly cried laughing at everything that was even the slightest bit funny
You balanced each other out in a nice way, and everyone could see that. It was clear as day that you prioritised Alessia’s feelings in every situation, but sometimes she let her own emotions get the better of her.
When you and Alessia played against each other, it wasn’t an overly big deal to you, there wasn’t a desire from either of you to beat each other, but you realised you definitely took losing better than she did. Whether it was a club match or an international game, you always just saw it as getting a job done.
You played for Manchester City when Alessia played for Manchester United, so there was always this rivalry between the two of you that you just didn’t care about. Whether you won, or she won, regardless, you were more concerned about things like what you’d cook when you got home. Alessia would get thick when she’d be going home on the losing end, so it was easier when you lost, for both of your sakes.
The first big game you played against each other was the Euros final, and you were gutted at the final whistle. It was great to see Alessia happy, but you couldn’t help but feel so deflated when the game ended. You’d been in a relationship with Alessia for three years at that stage, so her first point of call was to run to you. Despite her amazing achievement and feeling happy she’d won, that was just how your relationship worked, comforting each other first, over everything.
“I wish it didn’t have to be one or the other, I wish we could both feel happy” Alessia pouted.
“I am happy” you nodded, trying to smile through the tears that were filling your eyes.
“Don’t lie” Alessia shook her head, continuing to cup your face as you sat on the ground.
“Ich lüge nicht” I’m not lying you ironically lied. You were happy for Alessia, but it just hurt.
“I’ll see you later” you mumbled, letting her pull you up off the ground and wrapping you into a hug.
“I don’t want to leave you” Alessia sighed.
“Please, alles ist gut. Everything is fine Go and celebrate” you nodded, letting her gently press her lips to yours.
“Promise me that you’ll come later?” She asked as you nodded and she reluctantly walked off, back towards her team mates.
Your team mates collected you before you got a chance to sink back into the ground. You collected your medal and let everything blur out around you as you stood with a few of your teammates to clap for the English girls lifting the trophy.
Your teammates weren’t overly happy with you or Ann-Katrin when you both snuck off to the England team hotel later that evening to be with your partners. It was actually her and Jess that had set you and Alessia up in the first place. In particular, it was your best friend, Sydney that had the issue.
“Wo gehst du hin?” Where are you going? Sydney frowned, watching as the both of you were heading out of the hotel in plain clothes.
You and Sydney had been best friends since you started playing football for Germany. It had been difficult for your friendship in the last few years, because for some reason, she hated Alessia.
“Wir werden Alessia und Jess sehen” We’re going to see Alessia and Jess Ann shrugged, as she headed off towards the front door to your taxi, but you couldn’t move off the fact you’d just heard Sydney scoff.
“Haben du ein Problem?” Do you have a problem? You asked, as stern as ever.
“Nein, ich habe kein Problem” No, I don’t have a problem Sydney smirked. “Aber du bist dumm” But you’re stupid she hummed.
“Okay, so you do have a problem” you grunted.
“Oh look, she speaks only in her language too” Sydney shook her head.
“I’m going to spend time with Alessia, I haven’t seen her properly in weeks” you moaned.
“She is the reason we are the ones not celebrating” Sydney muttered.
“Nein, wir sind der Grund” No, we are the reason you snapped.
“We will see when the tables are turned if she treats you the same” Sydney warned, as you rolled your eyes and followed Ann out to the car.
When you got to the venue, you were instantly jumped on by Ella and a few of your Man City teammates, your girlfriend nowhere in sight.
“Put this on” Ella shouted drunkenly, handing you an England jersey.
She noticed by your frown, despite being drunk, that you didn’t really want to put it on, until she spoke again.
“It’s Less’, we got changed into these” Ella explained, pointing at the white t-shirt she was wearing. You took the jersey out of Ella’s hand and tugged it over your head.
“Have you seen Alessia?” You mumbled, continuing to pull the jersey on over your own T-shirt.
“She’s just over there with her parents and brothers” Ella pointed towards the Russo family before proceeding to drag you there herself.
Alessia’s family liked you, once they’d gotten to know you better. At the beginning they thought you were a bit overly stern and too quiet, practically the opposite of who their daughter was.
“There she is” Mario, Alessia’s dad, cheered, brushing by the group of friends and family members to get to you.
“Are your parents here?” He asked.
“No, they’re at their hotel. Their flight is early tomorrow” you explained.
“Alessia is just-”
“Oh look at you, you little cutie” Carol cooed as she squeezed your cheeks before pointing to your England jersey.
“Hi Carol” you smiled as the woman pulled your arms around her for a hug.
“We’re so proud of you” she reiterated, a thing they always told you regardless of the result.
“Thank you” you nodded.
“Who managed to get you into this?” Mario laughed, pulling the jersey by the cuff of the sleeve.
“Tooney” you mumbled as the couple laughed, almost like they were expecting that answer.
“Y/n” Alessia squealed, pushing by her parents and jumping into your arms.
“I saw Ann but I couldn’t see you and I thought you didn’t come” she pouted before pressing multiple kisses across your face.
“No, I’m so proud of you Meine Liebe” my love you whispered, kissing her gently before putting her safely back on the ground.
“Can we get a picture of you in that before you take it off?” She asked, pointing her finger against the 23 on your chest.
“I’m not going to take it off” you smiled and shook your head. “But take your picture” you assured her as she handed her phone to her mum to take the photo.
You eventually found yourself in an intense conversation with Viv, who’d been knocked out of the tournament earlier and was here for her girlfriend, Beth. You were both similar people, quiet, stern and driven to be the best.
“So are you moving to London as well?” Viv asked, both of you shoulder to shoulder, watching on as your girlfriends were dancing with their teammates.
“Was?” What? You frowned. Sometimes when you and Viv spoke, most people couldn’t keep up as you’d flow between Dutch, English and German like they were one language.
“Arsenal want Alessia” she explained. “She hasn’t told you?”
“No” you took a sip of your drink. “Has she signed?”
“Nein, no she hasn’t signed anything” Viv reassured you. “Sorry, I just thought-”
“I need some air” you huffed, heading outside as Viv inhaled deeply before going to the dance floor to explain the conversation you had just had to your girlfriend. Alessia excused herself quickly to follow you outside, finding you sitting on the ground and staring at the sky.
“Ist alles okay?” Is everything okay? Alessia asked as you shrugged. You liked when she tried to speak German.
“I thought we were happy in Manchester” you sighed.
“We are” Alessia nodded. “That’s why when Arsenal approached me, I said no” she confirmed.
“For me?” You frowned.
“For us” she smiled. “Then they said they wanted both of us, but I knew you didn’t want to leave Manchester”
“They want both of us?” You asked, tone becoming a bit perkier as she nodded.
“That’s what you want, us playing together. You said it after the game” you pointed out.
“You love Manchester” Alessia pouted, leaning over and cupping your face.
“I love you” you corrected her. “If you want to go and there’s somewhere that we can both go to, then I’m happy” you added.
“Are you sure?” She asked.
“Ja” yes you smiled. “Come on, let’s go back to your party” you said, standing up and letting her pull you into a kiss that was incredibly hard to break away from.
“You look really good in that” Alessia smirked, tugging the collar of her jersey that you were still wearing.
“Liebling, nicht jetzt” Love, not now you laughed. “Your parents are inside” you reminded her.
“Well take me somewhere else then” she drunkenly giggled.
“Later” you kissed her cheek and tugged her back inside to continue the celebrations with her team.
You were always a bigger person than she was, but you’d never admit that. It was just the way that you both were that you got over things quicker and easier than she did.
-
When you moved to Arsenal, Alessia was getting regular game time, but you couldn’t break into the first time regardless of how hard you trained. You found it difficult to understand why they wanted to sign you, but treated you like shit. It was almost like you were the missing piece in the deal to convince Alessia to sign.
You were really unhappy at Arsenal, but you’d signed a long term contract there and just had to get on with it. You’d decided you’d act on it if it was affecting your national team selection, but until then you’d just enjoy the routine of being with Alessia and working hard.
Winning the Conti Cup with Alessia felt so nice, despite you having little to no part in it. But it was nice to celebrate with your shared teammates for a shared win that made you both happy. So, regardless of how unhappy you were football wise, nothing could top that feeling of sharing that together.
-
The World Cup was a disaster, for you. Due to your lack of game time with Arsenal, you’d just about made the squad, but you weren’t getting any game time. You felt such an immense guilt that your family and friends had flown all the way to Australia to watch you sit on a bench. You just felt worse when the final whistle went in your third group game and you were cutting their holiday short. You’d dropped to the ground and were almost inconsolable that you hadn’t made it out of the group stages. Your mum had caught Sydney’s eyes and gestured her to get you to come over to them.
“Es tut mir so leid” I’m so sorry you sobbed against your mum’s shoulders when you got to them.
“Nein, Liebling. Sag nicht Entschuldigung” No, darling. Don’t say sorry she shook her head as she pulled you in closer.
“Y/n” you heard shouted as you looked up to see Alessia pushing herself through a group of people.
“Sie wollte dich überraschen” She wanted to surprise you your dad explained, feeling your mum let go of you and push you towards her.
“It’s okay” Alessia cooed, dawned in your Germany jersey from the Euro final and pulling you into her shoulder by the back of your head.
“I feel like a failure” you cried as she bit back a sob that she wanted to let out for you.
“You are not a failure, liebe” Alessia pouted. “I’m so proud of you, I’m always so proud of you” she hugged you tightly as you continued to cry.
“I won’t go home, I’ll stay to see you” you promised as she smiled and kissed you gently.
“Whatever you feel comfortable with” she added. “You can stay with my parents, or Ann”
“Ich liebe dich” I love you you whispered, pecking her lips gently.
“I love you too” she sighed, gripping you so tightly it felt like she was never going to let go until you told her you felt okay again.
You were ushered away from her and your family, back towards the changing rooms where morale was on the floor. You were just staring at the ground as the manager spoke and spoke, not taking in a single word that was said. You were still sat there a few minutes later, not noticing everyone else had moved off and away to shower and change.
“Y/n” Ann whispered as she pulled you back into the present.
“Machen du sich bereit” Get ready she nudged you and you somehow nodded at her.
You got showered and changed pretty quick before you spoke to the staff in charge of travel to inform them you weren’t going home with the team, as did Ann.
“Habe ich das richtig gehört?” Did I hear that right? Sydney snickered.
“Was?” You frowned.
“You’re staying here for Barbie?” She shook her head.
“Don’t call her that” you grunted, a nickname you hated that they called your girlfriend, who a lot of your national teammates weren’t overly fond of.
“I hope there never comes a day when we beat them, for your sake” Sydney said.
“Stop it” Ann warned as Sydney backed off and you headed to the back of the bus with the goalkeeper.
Your move to Arsenal already had made you feel like an extension to Alessia, but the World Cup was really what drove the stake through your heart. There you were, stood there in the stands in her England jersey, feeling like you were a nobody. You started caring less and less about football, seeing it purely as a job rather than something you were passionate about.
Then suddenly, you got a streak of luck with injuries in the Arsenal squad and you were in the starting lineup for every match day. Alessia noticed you had became a lot happier in yourself, getting regular minutes and getting back your starting spot in the national team.
Everything was going great. It was just unfortunate that it all went to shit when England and Germany were paired in the playoffs for the final Olympic qualification space. It was you or her, it couldn’t be both of you. One of you would be sitting in the stands, and respectfully, you’d done that in Australia for her. It was her turn to return the favour.
The two of you didn’t really talk about it much, it was better to keep it at the back of your minds until it came to the night before you were leaving for camp.
“Do you have everything?” Alessia asked, zipping up her suitcase as you lay flat on your bed.
“Ja, all packed” you nodded. “Alessia?” You mumbled. You never really referred to her by a nickname which she always found strangely cute.
“Yeah, baby?” She hummed, lying down beside you and placing her head on your chest, her hand slinking around your waist.
“Whatever happens, you win or I win, I love you either way” you whispered as you felt her hands grip your waist tighter, your fingers beginning to roam through her hair.
“I feel the same, and I love you more” Alessia smiled, pressing a kiss to your lips.
“Impossible” you shook your head before you melted back against her lips again.
-
You were both the media’s worst nightmare. You’d refuse to buy into any type of hype for the match other than the job was Olympic qualification and that was that. You brushed off comments the media asked about this match being personal, as did Alessia when she was asked about if it was going to cause issues in your relationship if England won. It was never phrased in a way of what would happen if Germany won, it was always England.
You were both in your respective starting eleven. Alessia up top and you on the left side of the defence. All the two of you focused on was winning, and it made you both feel bad, but you couldn’t think of the other person right now.
The game was extremely intense and physical. Alessia was on the opposite side to you on the pitch, so you hadn’t really seen much of each other. You always hated watching Alessia getting tackled by the opposition, but now you were the opposition and it was difficult watching your friends being the ones doing it. You couldn’t help but feel like she was being targeted throughout the game with bad challenges and off the ball fouls. You understood though, the team wanted to win and it was probably just in your own head that it seemed to be happening more to Alessia.
After 70 minutes, it was still deadlocked at 0-0. You’d put the ball out for a corner to England and rushed back into the box to defend it. There was a change in formation as some substitutions were made and you were on Alessia duty in the box.
“Your teammates are dickheads” she whispered.
“They’re just doing their job” you shrugged.
“So you don’t think they’ve been picking at me all game?” Alessia frowned.
“They see you as the biggest threat, they’ll treat you like that” you mumbled as she scoffed at you and turned away.
Although you did think they were being a bit harsh, they wanted to win the game as much as you did and wouldn’t let anything get in the way of that.
The ball came in and fell straight to you, and instead of booting it away, you played it out and saw the run Klara was making. You lobbed the ball into the opposite half and Klara took a good first touch, knocking it by the player that had been left back from the corner and continuing on to slot the ball past Hannah. Your entire team took off running towards her, and piled on to celebrate.
When you shifted back to your position for kick off, you watched Sydney snicker at something as she walked by Alessia. You could see your girlfriend mumbled something too, causing Sydney to turn back, the smug look wiped off her face. You took off sprinting and pulled Sydney away, not opening your mouth to talk to either of them, just wanting to get on with the game.
When the final whistle went to confirm the 1-0 win and your qualification for the Olympics, most of your teammates screamed and ran to each other to celebrate. You, however, went straight to console a sobbing Alessia.
“Keep her away from me, Tooney” Alessia mumbled against Ella’s shoulder.
“Lessi, I-” Ella tried to say but Alessia just shook her head and squeezed her best friend tighter. Simultaneously, your arm was being squeezed and you were being pulled backwards by Sydney as you made your way to Alessia.
“Not now” Sydney pleaded. “We’ve just qualified for the Olympics”
“She’s crying” you pointed out, shoving her hand off of your arm.
“I’m just making sure she’s alright” you quickly shuffled off and over towards your girlfriend who was wrapped up in Ella’s arms.
The smaller girl was facing you directly and you weren’t sure why, but she was shaking her head at you.
“No” she mouthed but you ignored her and let your fingers slide into Alessia’s hands.
“Alessia” you whispered softly, feeling her hand squeeze your fingers before shoving you away.
“Just please go away, I don’t want to speak to you right now” Alessia groaned.
“What?” You asked.
“Leave me alone” Alessia snapped.
“Alessia” you pouted.
“You’ve taken my dream away from me, and I’m happy for you, but please just go away” she sobbed.
“I’m sorry” you sighed, but did what she asked and walked away, heading back to your teammates who were celebrating on the pitch.
Noticing you were a bit distressed, Ann took you into the tunnel and down to the dressing rooms to cool off. You were in no mood to sign things or take photos.
“Wow Barbie is ruining your moments? I’m so shocked” Sydney teased as a few of your teammates joined in the laughing.
“Genug” Enough you shouted as the laughter fell instantly flat.
“Was ist dein Problem?” What is your problem? Sydney chuckled nervously.
“Ich habe ein Problem mit dir” I have a problem with you you grunted. “Alessia ist meine Freundin. Alessia is my girlfriend She is nothing but nice to all of you, and all you do is speak about her like shit” you added, shoving Sydney’s shoulders as Lena and Ann pulled you back.
“Beruhige dich” Calm down Lena whispered.
“It’s just a joke” Sydney explained.
“Es ist nicht lustig” It’s not funny you shouted again, feeling Lena’s grip tighten.
“Let me go” you whispered to her as you grabbed your stuff and headed straight for the bus, vowing to shower at the team hotel.
“Y/n, haben Sie bitte einen Moment Zeit?” Y/n, do you have a moment? An interviewer asked as you made your way to the bus. You didn’t really want to, but you nodded anyway and went over to him.
“Herzlichen Glückwunsch, wie fühlen Sie sich?” Firstly, congratulations, how are you feeling? He asked
“Es ist ein bittersüßer Moment für mich” It is a bittersweet moment for me you shrugged and bit back a sob, remembering how Alessia shouted at you a few minutes ago on the pitch.
“My dream has always been to get to the Olympics but I know that was Alessia’s dream too and it’s my fault now she’s not going” you wiped your eye that a tear had fallen from.
“Are you okay?” He sighed.
“Ja” you nodded. “It’s just frustrating when you love someone as much as I love her and you’ve made them upset” you added.
“Natürlich” Naturally he smiled sympathetically.
“Do you mind if I go?” You asked and he shook his head, allowing you to leave.
You stumbled onto the bus, finding a seat near the back, putting your headphones on and your feet on the chair beside you so nobody could sit next to you. When the bus pulled up outside your hotel, you were the last to get off, letting everyone else off first before you pattered up to your hotel room.
You took a shower and got ready for bed, just after getting comfortable and trying unsuccessfully to contact your girlfriend for the 3rd time since you got back to the hotel, when you were disturbed by a knock on the door. You rolled your eyes as you got up to answer and swung the door open to reveal Sydney on the other side.
“Hallo” she mumbled.
“Was ist los?” What’s up? You asked.
“Kann ich reinkommen?” Can I come in? She whispered and you could tell she had been crying so you nodded and stepped back to let her in.
“Es tut mir Leid” I’m sorry she sighed when you’d both gotten comfortable on the bed.
“Why? You were right” you shrugged. “You said when the tables turned she wouldn’t support me, and she didn’t” you tried to hold back the tears but when Sydney pulled your head against her shoulder you just sobbed.
“She’s just hurt, she’s not like you, you take things so easy” Sydney explained.
“Because I don’t care enough” you muffled. “She means more to me than any type of trophy or-”
“We’ve been dreaming of these things since we were kids. Going to the Olympics, winning trophies, you wanted all of those way before Alessia came into your life. You can’t just forget all of that because of her” Sydney inputted.
“I’m happy we qualified” you sighed.
“She just won’t talk to me and if this was her instead of me, I’d be so happy for her. Maybe I should just take my name off the squad” you suggested as Sydney’s eyes went wide.
“Why don’t you come home for a few days? Go see your family and celebrate with us. She might need some space” your best friend suggested as your eyes flicked to your empty phone screen.
You pondered over the question as you stared at your phone screen, Alessia sitting on your lap holding the euros trophy, her jersey on you and her medal wrapped around your neck.
“Yeah, good idea” you nodded.
-
You spent the next few days at home in Germany, staying in a hotel that the national team had booked for the team and going between seeing your family and partying. You hadn’t heard from Alessia since the game, you’d tried multiple times to call or text her, but she hadn’t answered.
Her silence continued up until a photo went up on Instagram with Sydney’s arms wrapped around your neck and yours on her waist that Alessia lost the plot. She knew you two were best friends, but the fact you’d ruined her Olympic dream and were acting like you didn’t care boiled her blood.
You felt your phone buzz and reached for the bed side table as you grumbled a tired greeting.
“Hallo?”
“When are you coming back to London?” Alessia snapped.
“Alessia?” You frowned. “Liebe, I’ve been trying-”
“When are you coming home?” She rephrased.
“Ich bin hier zu Hause” I am home here you stated as you felt her gulp. “I’ll be back in London tomorrow”
“You haven’t been there for me” she sighed.
“You weren’t there for me” you instantly hit back.
“You’re not the one upset” she explained.
“I’ve been trying to call you, I tried on the pitch, I tried after the game. I can’t help it that it was you or me, but you should be happy for me” you moaned.
“You took my Euros, I came and put your jersey on. I took your Olympics and I was ghosted” you said.
“I’m allowed to be upset” Alessia shouted.
“Of course you can be upset” you reassured her. “But I’m allowed to be happy” you added. “And you should be happy for me without me feeling guilty”
“So what you ran away to spend time with her?” Alessia scoffed.
“What?” You frowned.
“Why is Sydney all over you in that photo?” She snapped.
“Sie ist meine beste Freundin und wir waren betrunken” she is my best friend and we were drunk you groaned.
“I would never be this much of a dickhead to you” you let the words slip out and before you could even understand what you said, Alessia was already replying.
“Well maybe you shouldn’t come back” she stated.
“Well maybe I won’t” you snapped as you hung up the call and threw your phone away.
“Alles okay?” Ann asked from the bed beside you.
“Ja” you nodded. “I think Alessia just dumped me”
“What?” Ann frowned.
“She told me not to come home” you sighed.
“You want to go for a walk?” Ann asked as you nodded.
You got up and got ready as Ann gave you a one minute look and you presumed she was on the phone to Jess. You headed down to the lobby and waited for the older girl to come down for your walk.
“Hey” you shouted when you seen her get out of the lift.
“Bereit?” Ready? Ann asked, Sydney propped beside her as you nodded and the three of you set out on a walk.
You explained to the two of them what had happened on the phone with Alessia, and Sydney tried to hide the laugh she let out when she found out Alessia thought she’d made some kind of move on you.
“So she said not to come home?” Sydney frowned after you finished the story and nodded at her.
“You know she doesn’t mean it” Ann clarified. “She was just angry”
“Ich weiß nicht” I don’t know you shrugged.
“You’re going home tomorrow, even if I have to march you on the plane myself” Sydney frowned.
You were the type of person who usually did what your partner asked without argument, so if Alessia told you not to come home, you didn’t want to overstep. What you didn’t know was that Ann and Sydney had been secretly messaging Jess and Georgia about what was going on. Alessia had been quite standoffish with the group since the loss, but when Jess and Georgia pulled her for a chat, she knew exactly what it was about.
“Here” Jess mumbled, handing Alessia her phone.
“What?” Alessia frowned, staring at the phone in her teammates hand, but not taking it.
“Just watch it” Georgia added, as Alessia took the phone out of Jess’ hand and hit play.
They showed Alessia the clip of your interview after the game, all three of them understanding you perfectly in your switch between English and German, and Alessia being the only one in the room that hadn’t seen the interview yet. She found some type of comfort in how you spoke about her but a strong sense of guilt when you mentioned how upset you were for ruining her dream.
“Syd told me she doesn’t want to go” Georgia whispered.
“What?” Alessia gasped. “I feel like such a horrible person” Alessia sighed, putting her head in her hands.
“She’s coming back tomorrow” Jess said, taking the phone out of Alessia’s hand.
“Make it right” Jess smiled and both girls squeezed her shoulders.
-
You arrived home the next evening to you and Alessia’s shared house in London. It took a lot of convincing, but Ann and Sydney eventually got you to agree to go home. You’d done the sensible thing and stopped on your way home to grab a bunch of Alessia’s favourite flowers to give to her to apologise.
“Alessia?” You shouted when you got in the front door, dropping your bag at the stairs and gripping the flowers tighter.
“I’m home” you added, still waiting to hear a reply.
You headed into the kitchen, following the smell of Alessia’s cooking, hoping she’d be in there. You swung the door open to reveal the kitchen in darkness, only being lit by a few candles.
“Hi” Alessia whispered as you now suddenly noticed her in the corner of the room. She was wearing a pair of your tracksuit bottoms and your jersey from a friendly match against Sweden a few months ago.
“Hi” you smiled back. “These are for you” you added, holding out the bouquet of flowers for her to take.
“Turn the light on” she whispered as she took the flowers from you and headed to grab a vase while you went back to the light switch.
When the lights came on, you saw that Alessia had decorated the entire kitchen with congratulations banners, balloons in the shape of the Olympic rings and all your favourite cheat day snacks laid out on the table.
“Alessia” you breathed out in a state of shock.
“I was such a bitch” she sighed. “After the euros, you were nothing but supportive and kind. I’m so sorry I wasn’t the same for you” she said as you pulled her into a hug.
“It’s okay” you whispered as her head pressed against your shoulder.
“I want you to know I’m so proud of you and I’m going to be there, every game, cheering for you in the stands” Alessia smiled. “I love you so much and I just can’t apologise enough for the last few days”
“I love you too” you smiled back. “I’ll get you a nice new jersey to wear though” you teased, poking the jersey she had on.
“As long as it’s yours” she giggled, kissing you softly.
Alessia was there, every game in every city and she was so proud of you when you became an Olympic Bronze medalist. It sat right in your shared trophy cabinet, along with her Euro medal and her World Cup medal, saving room for the many more medals you would both win in your careers, together and separately.
