a guide how to not f*ck over your writers

hello, i am joining the bandwagon with my own two cents on how tumblr interactions have gone from shit to lower shit.

first of all, let me just stress how much i appreciate readers who interact with fanfics. you guys are the true mvp’s and i applaud you for doing god’s work. (also let’s be real a significant portion of those readers are fic writers themselves).

second of all, i want to say that i’m not trying to be “ungrateful” or sound like a prick, i just see so many writers leave this site because they feel unappreciated, alone or they think that nobody enjoys the fics they work hard on.

honestly, there were/are times where i think if this is even worth it. i get so much enjoyment from this, it’s a hobby that allows me to be creative, to escape reality and have a little fun. yet i feel like what i’m doing is just good for nothing since it seems like people are allergic to me on this site.

it truly means a lot to us when you guys interact. it doesn’t even have to be much, just a short comment, but it can still make our day

now onto the ways you can support your fave writers:

1. interact with the fics – comment, reblog, send asks. trust me, you can’t go wrong with this one. don’t be afraid to send an incoherent wordspill or type out that essay in caps lock where you go nuts about your favorite scenes, comment on the characters and their development or compliment the author’s writing style. again, i guarantee you’ll receive answers that are similarly incoherent as the author tries to not lose their shit bcs what the fuck? someone is finally interacting with my stories

2. recommendations – you can rec fics to networks for various events, send your recs to your moots or maybe even to fic rec accounts who accept recommendations. even by reblogging - you’re already basically doing this. it can make our day when we see that someone recommended something we worked on to someone else :)

3. interaction – usually, most authors on here wouldn’t mind more asks that don’t even have to be about fics. you can ask how their day was, talk to them about a favorite book/movie/song literally whatever. i feel like i don’t really have much to say on this topic cause i don’t really get these types of asks :} but yeah, i think most of us would feel really touched if people wanted to talk to us outside of our writings. note: if you’re shy, you can go on anon :> it’s there for a reason :P

4. criticism – now be careful - this one is tricky. you should first make sure if the person is okay with you giving some constructive criticism. if it isn’t mentioned anywhere on their page/at the bottom of their fic, just ask. i for one wouldn’t mind hearing things like “just a suggestion but i think you could work on your descriptions more” or “be careful - you often use the same words in one paragraph” etc.

lastly, i wanted to stress that you shouldn’t force yourself per se to do these. nobody wan’t your feedback if it isn’t genuine. i just feel like people think “oh well if i won’t comment, i’m sure somebody else will-” bullshit! that’s the problem here. this mindset is what has to change. if you want the writing community to not wither into dust, you’ll have to give something. in this case it’s interactions and feedback.

i won’t go into the details of how long it takes to write but as someone who writes primarily long fics, i can tell you it’s extremely time consuming. and i spent the past fifteen minutes typing this post instead of working on yellow wood @_@

so yeah, this is a desperate cry from me. i’m hoping that if you’re a silent reader/serial liker who doesn’t leave feedback, you’ll learn something new here. thank you for reading so far and i hope you have a lovely day <3

Mark screeched, drawing the rest of the team's attention to him. Sheepishly bowing his head in apology, he turned back to Jisung. "You like Aria?" he whispered questioningly.

Turning red, Jisung scratched the back of his neck, urging Mark to quiet down. "Since when?" Jaemin leaned forward in his seat. "Since Freshman year started," Chenle answered for him, earning a smack on his arm from an infuriated Jisung. "I'm not trusting you ever again," Jisung rolled his eyes.

calling soobin "bunny," wasn't an uncommon thing in your relationship; soobin loved when you called him that and was completely used to it. but using it in front of other's was always a red zone— seeing as it could be perceived as quite a sexual name, as well. so, when you called him bunny around his members when asking him to pass you your phone, he went completely stiff. "soobin?" you asked, confused why his ears had started to turn red. turning to your right, you saw yeonjun choking back belts of laughter. raising your eyebrow, you slowly realised you'd called him bunny. seeing soobin covering his face, as the younger members jeered and called him bunny as well, was probably the cutest thing you'd ever seen.

it had started as a joke once beomgyu had begun to grow his hair out. along with his hair, he had grown a certain amount of sass, leading you to call him princess whenever he'd flip his hair. however, 'princess,' became a common nickname for you two, and neither of you realised or said anything about it. "princess, here," you said, giving beomgyu a bottle of water once he finished their dance routine. unphased, he thanked you for the water, finishing most of it. "princess?" yeonjun spoke up. "huh?" beomgyu asked, looking towards him. "(y/n) calls you princess?" soobin continued. "oh, yeah," he shrugged. the boys were slightly confused, you could say.

"call me that more often," taehyun nuzzled into your neck.

"do you think i'd miss finding out what (y/n)'s nickname for you is?" taehyun chuckled. groaning, kai begged him not to tell the rest, even offering to do his laundry. "deal!" taehyun said, leaving the living room. "do you not like bambi?" you asked, pouting. "no! of course i do," kai assured you, "i just don't want anyone else to call me that." kai placed a peck on your cheek before taking you back into his arms and squeezing you with all his might.

Well hello there, I didn't hold really long before hosting yet another collab, but can you blame me? This is actually an excuse for me to write something inspired by anime.

The theme is simple, it's anime.

Pick an anime, the one you like the most, the one you would like to get to know better, and write something inspired about it. You can change the details you want, or keep everything the same, you are free to write whatever you want, as long as it is in the anime universe.

Below will be a list of anime, but there are only the ones I could think of, you can send me one that is not on the list.

I can take up to 2 writers per member and there is no limit for the number of writers for one anime.

This is an NCT collab.

22 spots to fill, as I will take one for myself.

First come, first serve basis.

All genres are accepted as long as you have all of the warnings written down.

No pedophilia, incest, non-con and dub-con.

You must be +18 to write smut and/or suggestive content.

affiliate applications — in order to affiliate your network with prism, send an ask with the name of the network you’d like to apply with.

please make sure you are following the network and reblog this post during the application process. failure to do this will result in your application being ignored until you do or rejected all together.

after your application is reviewed, if you have been accepted, an admin will dm you with your acceptance message. there, we will congratulate you and provide you with any extra information you may need.

a link to a discord server will be sent to you. it is preferred, not required, that you have a discord account to be part of this server for easy access and communication between each other and staff. here, you can easily and quickly submit your fics to be reblogged and are encouraged to make friends within the network, as well as get and give instant updates.

please add a link to the network somewhere on your blog after being accepted. we do check and we will ask you to put it there if you don’t have one!

when posting writings, please add the tag #prism.nw in the first five tags. this will help us track it easier. non-members cannot use this tag. if they do, we will message them and ask that they remove it.

you and jake lay in your bed, tangled with each other. jake's arm was sprawled over your waist, while your head was buried comfortably in his chest, breathing his scent at the ungodly hours of the morning. "jake?" you asked softly, wondering if he was awake as well. a soft hum sounded through his chest, making your head vibrate slightly. giggling at the feeling, you pulled away from his chest and looked at him.

"what's up?" he asked, raking his fingers through your hair. you shook your head, leaning in and placing multiple, wet kisses around his face, making him cringe and whine. as you laughed, jake looked at you with the same affection you had in your gaze. "i love you," he mumbled against your cheek. "i love your nose," you said back. "what?" he asked, confused, "my nose?"

"yeah, you have a really pretty nose." you traced your finger down his nose bridge, before jokingly squeezing it, making him cry out in pain as your finger nails dug into his skin. giggling you placed a kiss where your nails had marked him, humming out an apology.

"i want to sleep," he pouted. "then sleep," you replied, kissing his sulky mouth. jake shook his head, his long hair slightly flopping. in turn, you cooed, raking your fingers through his overgrown hair which fell at his neck. humming in satisfaction, he threw his leg over your waist, clinging to you like a koala. "you're such a big baby," you said, with hearts in your eyes as you trapped him in a tight hug. "i want to spend time with you," he said, as his reason not to sleep.

you shook your head. "we can do that tomorrow," you said scratching him under his chin. "go to sleep," you assured. earning a yawn from jake, you smiled in satisfaction as he leaned his head in the crook of your neck and fell asleep soon after. placing a long kiss on the top of his head, you soon fell into a state of deep slumber, as well.
