This is supposedly the “American Dream” that you can do whatever you want and be whomever you want. However, with the media and the way that people are perceived is this really true? Can you really be anyone you want to be? I feel like the answer is yes, but be ready for all sorts of judgement and probably a little bit of hate if it’s something “out of the ordinary”.

This line in the song is supposed to mean that you can be who you want and be what you want in America because there is “freedom” but in reality it’s the complete opposite. If you are a minority’s in America, you have to go through many obstacles to be successful and even then you still may not achieve all the things you want to.

This quote can symbolize how there is police brutality amount the black lives matter movement. It is unfair because everyone should be treated equally. Everyone should have an equal opportunity of social and racial equality and not be judged on the color of their skin.

This quote is important because is represents the police brutality and that most police do not want to see black people winning or doing good at all. They will find any reason to harm black people, men in particular and that is the reason for him say “we hate po po”

This part of the movie was the part where I knew was going to change the entire outcome of the rest of the movie.  After the picture was taken he realizes where he is at and how lost he really was because of the family had did to him.  He realized that he was working as one of the friends slaves and how white people make him think his way that this is okay to be in this type of mindset.  When he yells at the guy to leave he is giving him a warning of what actually goes on here and in America.

In this scene of the movie, we find out that this is the character that was kidnapped at the beginning of the movie. At this part, he is a totally different person and its almost like he wants to escape but he knows that he is trapped. When Chris flashes the light on him, he snaps back and tries to warn Chris that he needs to get out of there. This scene and movie is sad because White people use black people as a prop or just use them for things that they want to benefit off of.

It goes beyond the narrow nationalism that can be prevalent within some Black communities, which merely call on Black people to love Black, live Black and buy Black, keeping straight cis Black men in the front of the movement while our sisters, queer and trans and disabled folk take up roles in the background or not at all.  Black Lives Matter affirms the lives of Black queer and trans folks, disabled folks, Black-undocumented folks, folks with records, women and all Black lives along the gender spectrum.
