When reading this quote this struck me and made me think.  The fact that after thinking about where this might not be true made me really sad and i realized just how bad our world is and how racism exists everywhere.  it is also upsetting because of the fact that people all over the world see themselves as superior to another race which should never happen.

This quote shows that people can be whatever they aspire to be.  Rihanna is trying to show that as long as you work hard that you can achieve your dreams and no matte how crazy they seem.

It is good for the community to gather and stand up for  wrong doing like this. This really shows others that not everyone in this world is bad and people still have a conscientious for whats wrong.

This is where something is messed up in our country. If someone is clearly holding their hands up in surrender and specifically saying “don’t shoot” why on earth would you shoot him? You did your job, you got someone you felt was a threat to surrender to you, put him in cuffs and question about whatever you need to question him about. Why would you shoot a man that is obeying your demands? For all they knew, he could’ve been innocent. That’s murder.

This quote is powerful because it shows two things.  One of them is the strength that people find to try and figure out what happened in the situation because they feel like they have been wronged (which they have) and want to make the world a better place.  Secondly, it shows just how wrong our authority system is messed up and shows the damages they do.

This quote is simply ridiculous. Ross Gay is quoting a white woman who is telling this to the black man she is dating. This quote is full of racism, hate, and preposterous stereotypes. Since the man she is dating is successful, dresses “nicely”,  and does not hit women, he is “not a real black man”. This is insulting to him, but is incredibly racist towards black people. in her mind, a black man should be “hood”, a woman beating, deadbeat dad. This quote is incredibly eye opening and demonstrates people that think this way (sadly) still think this way.

This quote in Ross Gay’s story actually blew my mind.  I could not believe that someone would say to this another human being.  But this quote is powerful because it shows the stereotypes that we have of black people in our culture.  She expects a black man to be hood and since he is educated and everything she does not consider him to be a black man.

This quote shows how important his faith is and he knows that no matter what has happened or will happen, God is watching at all times. There are a lot references to religion in this song and this is one of the many lines that shows how much he values his faith.

This quote stood out to me because it embodies all that Lamar wants for his people. He simply longs for the black community to be safe and secure, though they are at the center of violence and hate in America. He further states that his will is in accord with God’s will and providence.

This line by Kanye West how important his faith is to him and what God means to him.  He shows that no matter what happens in your life, through all the ups and downs that God will always be there for us.  He is trying to spread this message throughout the entire black community saying that there is someone always there for us.

This right here in Rosa’s publication shows the many emotions that many people are feeling.  May people are confused, sad, angry, and annoyed that there are innocent people dying for absolutely no reason.  Many people demand to know the reasons why these are happening and cannot stand the fact that they have not gotten yet.  She really drives home the point that there is something wrong in our society and that we need to do something about it in order for us to become a better nation.

This is easily the most powerful line in the song.  The song talks about all the problems that black people face and here Kendrick Lamar is pointing out one of the biggest problems.  He wants people to realize that cops are not as friendly as we think and that they are actually racists who racially profile black people.  He wants people to become aware of the situation that is happening in America and wants everyone to join together and fight against it.

This part of the movie was the part where I knew was going to change the entire outcome of the rest of the movie.  After the picture was taken he realizes where he is at and how lost he really was because of the family had did to him.  He realized that he was working as one of the friends slaves and how white people make him think his way that this is okay to be in this type of mindset.  When he yells at the guy to leave he is giving him a warning of what actually goes on here and in America.
