The little moments of cinematography on this show manage to tell so much about the characters. As Kat pushes Ethan away to indulge in her promiscuous persona she’s getting further away from herself. Kat is pushing away her true self,her friends,her family,and the one person who truly sees her as a person. Kat dresses herself up like some dominatrix to put up walls so high that no one can see her insecurities. It’s like this Marina Diamandis lyric “I guess you could say that my life’s a mess/But I’m still looking pretty in this dress/I’m the image of deception”. Kat is sinking deeper into her fake persona that she’s fully in the dark. Ethan represents a path for Kat basked in light where she could be accepted as herself. The further Kat pushes Ethan away then the further Kat will be trapped in the dark.
