A swamp of carnivorous pitcher plants. These are Darlingtonia pitcher plants, and they grow native in some parts of Oregon and California. If you see some, be careful not to disturb them as they have a limited range and only grow in low-elevation temperate swamps

"Insect-eating plants like pitcher plants and sundew often are found in bogs. They get a lot of the nutrients they need to survive from the insects they eat, so they can thrive in a bog's nutrient-poor soil."

New pitcher plant in the light! The farmers market stand that draws me like a moth to a flame had a bunch of carnivorous plants and I have gnats so I stocked up.
Native golden pitcher plants, Georgia
I got a new pitcher plant ^^ ignore the mess please ^-^
today's cool plant of the day is: Sarracenia purpurea, the purple pitcher plant!!! a carnivorous plant native to the usa and canada, it lives in nutrient poor bogs and wetlands and uses its adapted leaves to catch prey to make up the nutrients it needs. normally the prey is insects and bugs, but on occasion it catches slugs, frogs or lizards too!! it is one of the hardiest carnivorous plants, and has naturalised to bogs in places ireland and switzerland after introduction.
