Showing off a cheesy smile in response, he stopped them in their tracks to think for a moment – disregarding her grinch comment. “Well, I would like to go back home and have a nice sit in my favorite chair. But I’ve got to say.. this drink might – just might, be putting me into the holiday spirit.”

"I knew it would. Nothing says Christmas quite like a good hot chocolate. And look at all these lights!" Bonnie beamed as she pointed to some nearby buildings all decorated. "Christmas is my favorite you know." She reminded him.

“Good choice.” Addison beamed, eager to make her first sale of the day. “I can ring you up at the counter if you’re ready to check out.”

"Hmm, yeah I think I'll just take this for today." She said walking towards the counter. "Have you had a lot of business? With it being the holidays and all."

“You know, I’m not the biggest fan of peppermint to be honest, but I am pretty excited for the half off Christmas decorations.”

"My favorite candy canes are actually the blue ones. They always seem to be the hardest to find."

“We were both scared. Fear.. makes us do a lot of things we shouldn’t. It’s not your fault.” It felt like he was repeating himself, but he didn’t care. Not in the slightest. “I love you, Bonnie Bennett. That’s no secret.”

"I love you too, Kai Parker." She grabbed his hand and let her fingertips dance on his palm. "So, what does this mean for us? Now that we're together again?"

“I’m a grinch 365 days a year. You are, quite literally, magical. Not some superficial holiday.” He let out a drawn out groan at her upbeat attitude. “I have to say, if twinkly lights and singing is all it takes to put a smile on your face, I’ll take it.” Damon tightened his grip on her hand, pulling her along and leading her into the petite cafe to order their drinks. “Ever notice how we always do everything you want to do?” He teased, handing her a warm to-go cup. “Extra whipped cream.” The Salvatore was sure to inform her.

Bonnie let a small smile cross her lips as they walked. "Just the way I like it." She said taking the cup from him. "Alright then, Mr. Grinch, what would you like to do?"

A warm smile spread across his lips, but he’d leave her comment alone. “Ah, the halls are decked, mistletoe is hung, mall Santa’s smelling like vodka and body odor. So much joy – makes me sick. But still, I could go for hot chocolate and a chat. Shall we?” Brows raised, extending a hand to her.

"Don't be a grinch, Christmas is magical. There are the lights and the tree and the singing!" She happily informed him. She took his hand with a smile. "Lets go."

“I don’t get it. If one doesn’t read, then why bother coming into a bookstore? I have stacked and reorganized the shelves more times than I can count today. You would think that people would have the decency to put one simple object back where they got it from.”

"If it makes you feel batter, I plan on buying this." Bonnie said holding up a book and smiling.

“Ah, so I’m the last resort guy. I get it.” He raised a solitary brow at her. “Kai isn’t around to entertain you? Guess I could think of something in his absence.”

"Or, maybe I might have possibly miss you a little bit." She said mumbled quickly. "The town is all decorated for Christmas, why don't we go take a walk and get some hot chocolate?"

"I want to do something fun! Please?" She begged. "Unfortunately, you're the only one not busy so I guess I'm stuck with you."

His arm is around her, leaning into the contact. “I’m glad I told you,” he said quietly. He was so afraid to, but it made a world’s difference.

"I'm glad you told me too." She pulled away slightly to look up at him. "I don't want secrets between us anymore. I think I started that, and I'm not sure I like where it got us."

“Well, in that case,” he said lightheartedly, trying to wear a smile. “I won’t forget. Everything you’ve done for me, everything I’ve become – I’m going to hold on to it forever.”

"Good." She said gently touching his cheek. The witch let lit a sigh as she rested her head on his chest. The two had been through more hard times than most, but somehow they made it through.

“Your secret is safe with me. The half off candy is one of my favorite parts of holidays, or post holidays rather.”

"Now it's time to count down the days until half off candy canes."

“I’m not kidding. I haven’t had time to try much candy” Once the bag was in his hands, he took a candy and put it in his mouth. He focused on the taste of the candy corn as he began to chew on it. His nose wrinkled a little “Not sure if it’s my cup of tea” He said and handed over the bag back to her “Nah. You can keep them”

Bonnie shook her head. "No one understands the true value of this poor candy."

"Are you kidding me? Here." Bonnie said handing him the bag. "Try it."

“If you have that much extra – I mean, who turns down free candy?”

"Between you and me I might have gone a little crazy with the half off candy. Pretty sure I have enough here to feed everyone in New Orleans."

“No, thank you. Candy corn is nothing but pure sugar.”

"Suit yourself." Bonnie said with a shrug as she popped another piece in her mouth.

In response, his arms draped over her back loosely, sighing at the warmth that she brought. “Not even a little,” he told her truthfully, which only made him feel worse for having them in the first place. He would never want to lose what he had, even if it didn’t include her.

"I'm glad to hear it. You're stronger than those thoughts, Kai. Remember that. Remember who you are now, because I really like this guy." She said with a shy smile.
