the     mountains     of     madness     have     many     little     plateaus     of    sanity.

nobody     talks     about     how     terrified     and     riddled     with     guilt     and     shame     jane     was     after     ben’s     coronation     /:     she’d    been     an     outcast     her     entire     life,     purposely     ostracized     as     someone     always     living     in     the     shadows     of     royalty     and     pushed     aside     for     being     other     —     the     absolute     worst     time     she     could’ve     had     a     mental     breakdown     was     in     front     of     the     entire     kingdom,     for     her     childhood     friend’s     coronation     ?     if     she     weren’t     already     looked     down     upon,     post-coronation     was     absolutely     hell     for     her.     she     refused     to     go     back     to     auradon     prep     for     two     weeks     after     begging     her     mom     to     let     her     stay     home,     and     she     even     tried     transferring     to     another     school     because     she     just     couldn’t     fathom     having     to     deal     with     the     aftermath.     she     refused     to     talk     to     anyone,     cried     herself     to     sleep     after     reading     just     about     every     news     report     talking     about     her     outfit     or     her     hair     or     just     how     bad     she     messed     up. 

being     forced     back     into     school     had     her     scared     out     of     her     mind     and     she     felt     like     people     couldn’t     stop     staring     at     her.     riddled     with     anxiety     and     having     to     apologize     to     just     about     every     person     who     stared     at     her     for     just     a     little     too     long     or     smile     extra     wide     at     professors     who     turned     their     noses     down     on     her.     because     she     was     already     the     weird     one     who     had     this     great     opportunity     to     attend     the     most     prestigious     school     in     auradon     with     the     top     one     percent     elites     —     and     she     had     no     room     to     act     out.     jane     tried     to     rebuild     her     reputation     for     months     after     coronation,     and     it     messed     her     up.
